Hello!
Since some days I have a Starter Rack 2. In addition I have installed Slew/Edge and an ADSR!
Still ordered I have the QUANTIZER and a GRUNGE FILTER, but the delivery is open. A 2SIGNALAMP is here, but not installed at the moment.
I surely will need addition patching wires and a 4VCA.
Since month I have ideas for some new modules. I have started to buy some material, draw some diagrams with EasyEDA and make some tests. Sometimes there will be one of my own modules at the rack
I have connected an AKAI MINIAK by Midi which is working well with the AE.
I have found out that the Mastermodule is receiving the pitch bend wheel of the MINIAK. Very fine! It would be nice if the sustain pedal would keep the gate output on high if it is pressed. So currently it is not supported!
The two outputs of the AE Modular are connected to a Presonous Firestudio Project, which is linked to my PC. I use Presonous Studio One DAW software. So it is easy to record and add something like effects or additional tracks. With wavelab I am able to modify audio files.
For monitoring I use EVE SC205 active monitor speakers.
In my room a have a lot of addition equipment from drum-set, Roland RD700 piano, Technics AX7 keyboard, Casio CZ-101 synth to some guitars and bass guitars with amps and effects. Long time ago I assembly a Wersi Stage piano, which is still here but it would need some refurbishment.
Till now a use mainly the DAW with plugins or with instruments to create music. I started in the 80's with a sequencer software under DOS and a simple midi interface to the Technics AX7 to program music.
So my AE Modular era has started!

Finally got the chance to try and perform with my setup! There's this monthly improv session event in my town, mainly run by these local artsy-fartsy free jazz legends. Heard one of the guest musicians (Jason Kahn is the name) will also be bringing a modular rig so figured I'd sieze the chance to try something new and preach the gospel of AE, not a lot of musicians with modulars round these parts. Guess this is also nice chance to show off my (main) rack finally, mostly see it as a portable drum/noise machine/groovebox to accompany other musicians/instruments. In this case it seemed useful as there was no drumkit set up, but those jazz guys don't really follow beats so I ended up just creating some ambiance, there'll be a recording out eventually. I'm a "punk" guitarist primarily, haven't been doing the electronic thing for a long time although I actually started out my "musician" journey at 17 with no input mixing, so I always loved the idea of twisting knobs to make music. Quite straightforward patch here with the amazing Topograf doing the heavy lifting, honorable mentions go to Kastle and O_c (REALLY hope those become a thing again, for the sake of AE in general). Got into Ryoji Ikeda recently and that seemed like a neat simple kind of thing to try and pull off on the modular, not seeing a lot of that online for some reason. Maybe those guys are just making actual music instead of hanging on the internet? One can only hope. Recorded some random messing about before I tear it all down, definitely still got a lot to learn as far as performing with this stuff goes. drive.google.com/file/d/1mM21DBbQq_xUxeLDDQyFyHHsu4C9qzZa/view?usp=drivesdkAttachments:

Just installed my newly arrived module: uWNDCOMP. Also added some red poti caps and extra long patch cables that reach across the whole rack :-) LFO (somewhere between triangle and saw) into comparator makes a nice Dilla time clock generator! Attachments:

This is my newly completed AE modular system - I had completed it at least once before but had a change of plan.... The newest module are the Wonkystuff Snare and Baestle Arp, both in the bottom rack. My TW Samplyr and last uModule base arrived (finally!) to complete my main rack, along with the uENV and uMIX, (a uDistortion was waiting for a home). I also re-installed my logic module as decided to keep that....
The lower rack is easily removable (has a power module) and is aimed at being a "Percussion synth" to be used elsewhere in the studio or out somewhere; but it all sits normally next to my MPC1 as that is the main way I trigger/play my AE modular these days.

Hi all.
I'm Filipe, from Portugal. I decided to start my journey using only the Rains module (plus the Master and some external seq's and FX). I have this minimal system (with lots of room to expand) with me for a few weeks now and I have been recording and overdubbing a lot: rains it is such a great module!
Cheers!

NSFW ? ^_^ Some homo Sapiens don't get a lot of work-hours put in if they receive certain pictures of other Homo Sapiens Some Homo Sapiens are like that receiving pictures of items - with that being said; I 'pimped' up my Master-module ? Having looked at it now for a little time and the 'quality' of the nuts; I actually believe I'd prefer to get nuts made out of plastic (the phenol variant perhaps)
- taller ones (3mm) thus showing more colour from skewed angles
- in the same 5 colour selection the knobs for the pots come in ! (thus not only more colourful but also inline with the pots)
Could be 'something' other would suggest (Robert) to look into ? :) - better 'described' @ module improvements
/ *EDIT* /
there's a 'follow-up' post on this from me further down the thread ;P

I love these nuts. Where did you get them?

I'm also interested. The absence of these nuts (teehee) on the ae modules have always irked me, almost feels like its a B******** modular.

These look like the Befaco Bananuts: www.thonk.co.uk/shop/bananuts/I put standard metal nuts on all my 3.5mm jacks, it does make the whole thing feel more 'real'

*sorry* guys ! :) - I'm not going to reveal where I got them from; - if you look at the close up picture you'll notice how NOT alike they are to one another ? - the place I got them ... are not very 'responsive' to requests ! The blue one @ the picture have - not only 2 noticeable dents to it - but also so bad a thread it can't be screwed on. I got 3 out of 5 red ones also with bad threads though they do screw on ... The overall quality is ... I'd say I could do better handmade ones ! - the bevels are all off - both top & bottom - etc etc
As I wrote; I'd now - after having looked a them for some time - prefer to get ones made of plastic that covers the entire thread of the jack (8mm diameter & 3mm high)
and can be in any of the same exact 5 colours as the knobs can be - that'll look MUCH better with some consistency - right ? :) - and adding to the above; AE doesn't have metal faceplates ...
So they're *OFF* again (and returned) and it really looks much better without - I realized they're a poor design choice to add ! AE is not Euro[c]rack ! ;O
A lot of very good decisions - both functional & design wise - went into AE and I really like to respect that and encourage changes & improvements to align with that originality that I truly consider AE (and Robert _obviously ;O) to be ! :)
@ dizzeesatchel the Befaco ones are 9,5mm diameter (as opposed to the 8mm I got) - which would not look so good getting way to close to the text on the modules faceplate ?
I tried to get both Befaco & Schneidersladen to re-pack the 25 bags they comes in into singles OR at least bags of 5 with NO luck AT ALL ! :( - it seems very 'difficult' for them both to understand it is _actually_ a physical possibility ;O which obviously would yell a wee more per ring price ;P

Just got coils! My collection is complete for the time being at least
Here's my current rack (featuring cable management otter) I do have some other modules on the way, I'm planning to swap out my least used modules instead of expanding so I should end up with an 'optimized' setup where nothing goes untouched.

Lovely rack! that's quickswap right? And seeing two OG 555's makes me very happy as well

Nope, just regular cases. Its tempting to get quickswap ones now that they're both full and I'm getting more modules
