Thought would be interesting in hearing on what modules everyone is hoping for I the future. Myself personally I'm hoping for a usb host polyphonic module something similar to expert sleepers, a complex oscillator or harmonic oscillator similar to verbos and some specific modules aimed at drums. What are all of you hoping for?
(Updated: 16/08/2021) This is a list of all module ideas in this thread as an overview. Please add more ideas at the end of the thread and I will eventually add them to the list.
. Polyphonic USB host like Expert Sleepers
. Complex Oscillator
. Harmonic Oscillator
. Analog Drums (Kick/Snare/etc.) either in one big module or separate
. Sample Player (eg. for Drums)
. Algodrone
. DIY Module
. Karplus Strong module like Plonk or Pluck
. Sample Player with loops
. Wavetable / digital Oscillator
.Wavefolder / Shaper / possibly Lockhart folder-type
. Function Generator / simple AD envelopes
. Granular / Drone module
. Ornament & Crime ported to AE
. Filters: Jupiter, SEM, Moog Ladder
. Euclidean Circles
. Vocoder like Doepfer a129e
. I/O module for external effects pedals
. Turing Machine
. Some serge based modules would be great! SSG (Smooth and Stepped Generator), DUSG (Dual Universal Slope Generator) etc.
. a dual (or triple) VC crossfader ... and panner
. Breadboard module that has sockets for 5V, GND and all MIDI-CV bus signals
. VC Slope (this sort of thing should be part of the upcoming slew gen, according to an email exchange quite some time ago w/ Robert)
. 4-pole LPF (transistor-ladder, of course)
. Analog Shift Register
. Envelope Follower
. Fixed Filter Bank (perhaps 8 or so passbands, each on individual outs along with a summed output)
. OR module (either logical or diode)
. Lowpass Gate
. An adaptation of the Buchla 'Source of Uncertainty'
. Comparator module (window, hopefully)
. Gate/trigger delay
. Ratchet controller/trigger multiplier
. Balanced modulator (not merely a passive diode ring, but a proper one with input/output transformers and buffering)
. An adaptation of something akin to Happy Nerding's "FM Aid"
. A theremin CV control source
. scale/gain/offset
. filter like VCF-74 by Vintage Synth Lab (a copy of the MiniKorg700 Filterunit)
. VCOs and LFOs with Sinewaves (I was a huge fan of the Make Noise STO)
. definitely a MI Clouds version for the AE format
. something like the Make Noise Function (I love voltage controlled Envelopes and Envelope Followers)
. A looper with more than 3s of recording memory
. Quantizer
. A multiple LFO module, no VC control maybe, and tempo sync able to midi clock
. Digital CGS Modulo Magic, like forum.aemodular.com/thread/84/modulo-magic-guide-module-idea
. sequential switch where trig rotates thru outputs (preferably bi directional) - in: i/o, trig, reset - out: i/o 1-8, pot for number of steps
. quad logic with and/or output, and a switch for each that turns them instead into nand/xor. ... we'd lose not.
. arduino module with 4 pots, 4 cv/in, 4 cv/out, 4 leds (similar to Ardcore or O&C)
. Solina string synth oscillator, like moroccodave.com/2017/09/13/diy-modular-synth-solina-string-synth/
. 4-input VC stereo panning mixer in 1U with CV input for each panning position and two outputs for left and right and 4 input volume knobs
. extended MIDI module similar to Expert Sleeper's FH1
. cv/gate sequencer with 16 steps switchable to different configurations: 1x16, 2x8, 1x8 + 2x4, etc. each with separate trigger input and separate output.
. tuner
. Sine oscillator with FM in and attenuator for FM, switch for fast/slow (LFO range)
. DC coupled Audio interface with at least 4 ins and outs plus USB to laptop, similar to Expert Sleeper's ES8
. Bluetooth MIDI Module
. clock multiplier
. joystick module
. self tuning DCO
. 4-op FM oscillator like Akamai's Castle
. buffered multiple
. MI Plaits
. module to interface with guitar pedals, send jack, return jack, wet/dry mix knob.
. midi extensions with support for pitchbend, sustain pedal, mod wheel, switchable channels, and TRS Type A support.
. knobless CV manipulation tool similar to MI Kinks
. crossfader
. cv controllable LFO
. chaos generator
. seriously slow LFO
. Mutable Marbles
. Mutable Branches
. compressor module
. dedicated MIDI to CV module with multiple simultaneous MIDI channels
. CV to MIDI-CV
. filter bank
. sampler with SD Card
. CV Panning
. Triple bandpass filter
. Sequential switch with the ability to skip outputs
. Pin matrix
. Dual wavefolder with crossfade (see: chopping kinky)
. a microtonal quantizer? Scales like 13 tone Bohlen-Pierce scale, various equal divisions of the octave, all kinds of crazy stuff.
. a sine wave LFO
. chorus fx module
. a bucket brigade module
. A visual generation module
. something similar to the ALM Jumble Henge spatial mixer
. a module that can run Orca
. envelope follower
. tape style digital delay
