I've had a few issues: the pot on the PWM on the 2OSC/d has a very limited range, there's about 60 degrees of sweep in the middle and nothing outside that; the WASP filter has quite a bit of resonance even when it's all the way down, and nothing I've seen suggests that it's intentional; the top of ENV2 stopped being able to trigger itself. Hello anticlimacus, Welcome to our forum! I'm glad that you're overall happy with your AE system, but I wanted to comment on the few issues that you've described. I'll do it here, even though issues and questions about any AE products should better be posted to the tangible waves sub-forum. The PWD of the OSC/d behaves like you described, apparently it is a feature or a characteristic of the circuit and not a defect. When using an LFO to modulate the PWM I usually use an attenuator or the CVTOOL to put the LFO into a range that works with the PWM so that it doesn't cut off. The WASP filter is a very characterful filter and what you experience is its normal behaviour. The SVFILTER is a more "neutral" filter if that's what you're after. The behaviour you've described of the 2ENV sounds like a defect to me and if you've purchased the system from either tangible waves or one of the official retailers then you should get in touch with Robert at tangible waves. He is usually very helpful and if it's really defective he will send you a new module. I hope this all helps and that the above quirks don't cloud your experience of the system too much! Please try to make recordings of your music and post it on the performances sub-forum, I'm always interested to hear what other people are making with the system. Cheers, Carsten.

Okay, I guess I'm not lurking any more so I might as well say hi. Hi! I've had a pretty great time talking on the discord and listening to everyone's music. I've been messing around with synthesizers of various sorts since I first acquired a Casio CZ101 in high school. (I sold it later, then bought another, then sold it, and now have a third one I'm going to hang onto.)
My first Polysynth was a CZ101, bought new& still have it. Great little machine. Welcome to the Forum, :-)

Hey all,
I bought my first synthesizer, a Roland Boutique JU-06, some 4 years ago after watching some videos on YouTube and instantly fell in love with the hardware way of doing things. I've since also gotten myself a Pocket Operator (PO-12), a Behringer Neutron and Crave and an Elektron Model:Cycles, which I intend to use for controlling the AE.
The Neutron goes really well with the AE, how are you getting on? The Crave should be good too; debating buying one as so cheap and can do easy sequencing to underpin the AE, don't need much of an excuse to buy more gear.... Are you using the Model:Cycles to control the AE? I suspect you mean more just connected/synced over midi? Welcome to the Forum and hope you are enjoying your music making.

Hello everyone,
So I have my first row of 12 modules for a couple of weeks now, and I enjoy it a lot. This is my first modular experience. The main idea for me is not to have a full set for live performance, but I use it as a "sound shaper".
I do some improvisations on it, record everything, and then I take what I want from it.
What is great is that I understood quickly that I should not try to recreate a classic substractive synthesizer. Modular is way more than that. Sometimes, I feel like a kid who's doing secretly forbidden things. And that's a lot of fun !
The second thing I like in this format is the size. I love portable hardware because you can bring them with you almost everywhere. So I bought a rechargeable battery, and use it as power for my setup. I also carry my Zoom H4n record that I use to record my jams when I'm outside. So I think AE is great for this. It's tiny, and seems to not use a lot of power.
The goal is to have something to create sounds for drones, dark ambient pieces, and so far I'm pretty satisfied .
Plus, I enjoy the community that goes behind it.
One last thing I want to add, is that I actually don't mind to wait several weeks for an order. I even think it's a part of the charm of the brand, and I'm grateful when I can buy things that are not produced by exploited children. So, to the people that solder these things, keep up the good work

Hello,
Thank you for accepting my request to join. I do not consider myself to be a musician but have played string and horn instruments in the past.
My interest in electronic music began in 2010, and in 2016 I started building a Eurorack system. Though I haven't sold a car or taken out a second mortgage to fund it, I have invested enough to know I should slow down and enjoy what I have (yes GAS).
Over the last few months however, I've become interested in AE Modular and decided last month to purchase the Starter System 2.
I am really enjoying it and admittedly again need to just slow down to learn, and enjoy what I have rather than purchasing more. It is a wonderful system and I'm so thankful that this opportunity has come along. My interests in modular, tend to be more in the technical side as I also tinker with electronics including the Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms. I enjoyed discovering new sounds and recording them since I was young, so these two areas seem to come together nicely.
I look forward to learning from you all and discussing your new musical and electronic creations.

G'day All, Stoked to find you. Moved from loungeroom guitar and boring drumloops to discovering there are a world of drum and experimental music machines out there that satisfy both the technical and music geek in me. As soon as I saw Robert discussing Ae at superbooth I knew this was for me. After the 3month build time my shipment was turned around at the German airport the day after the borders shut. So after my 7 month wait it was totally worth it and now with the help of The 5th Volte making Ae more available it's satisfying my gas. I've enjoyed all the YouTube videos you guys have made and now will enjoy going through listening to all your creations. Those Aetherwaves albums are awesome and a daily staple. Also what Kurt is doing is blowing me away. I hope that I'll be able to contribute in some way too. Anyway as this is my first entry into any internet community I'm dribbling so will end it and just jam so catch you later.

Cheers Kurt, you may be able to hear a piece soon. Currently trying to upload my first recorded piece, not a live jam but Ae processed through the korg electribe sampler. A bit different but thought I'd start off by sharing that. I'm using a simple shotcut visual preset to load up my first YouTube. No idea what I'm doing but it's fun!

So much easier said than done..... Welcome to the AE world, at least GAS here doesn't cost so much although my AE Modular is now the single most expositive piece of gear in my studio after several orders....

Hello everyone ! I knew someone who was selling his starter rack 2.... and I did some research and kinda fell in love with the whole philosophy/community behind AE modular ! So now I’m a proud owner ! I’ve been around modular synth but never wanted to have a system because I’ve known way too many people putting way too much $$$ they could afford into it ! AE modular seems like a perfect fit for me A little more personal, I am French but living now in Canada for years, in Montréal. I actually wonder if there’s any people using AE Modular in Montréal here ? Currently, I just flown to Newfoundland for the summer and I took my racks with me (bought it the day before I left!). I’m a composer of contemporary music (acoustics with electronics) and electroacoustic music, and I also make sound installations and I perform (usually with prepared guitar and effect pedals). Also I created an ensemble (Ensemble ILÉA) and some of the members have modular synth, but there are also acoustic instruments. (Btw we have an online show on June 3rd for the festival Suoni Per Il Popolo). Anyway that’s who I am, and I can’t wait to go deeper and deeper into my AE Modular ! Really happy to join that community that look so kind and active !

Welcome girault!, I read on your website....
"His work is focused on taming chaotic elements into musical contents by using conceptual or concrete processes, hence his love for improvisation. He is also dedicated to shaping musical ideas in the micro and macro domains, hence his love for composition"
I think you'll fit in well. 😅
Look forward to hearing what you create.

Hello from Denmark!
I am a recovering singer songwriter originally from Norway. My first steps into electronic music started days before the Covid19 pandemic shut Denmark down, when i started making music on my Ipad. A brilliant IOS app called Drambo got me into modular synthesis, where i took my first modular baby steps. After drooling over Youtube videos with Eurorack, i stumbled upon the first AE Modular blog post showcasing all the different AE modules. Then getting into the website to look at the pricetag on the starter systems, i could see my sweet hardware modular dream getting way more realistic!
I have been messing around on Mirack (IOS adaptation of VCV rack) to see how deep my fascination for modular synthesis actually reaches, and I've been having a lot of fun for months now, so i am beginning to see that maybe the interrest is here to stay!
Hanging around on the forum and on discord makes it apparant that there is a lovely and vibrant community surrounding this system, and the possibilities for DIY is also a big plus!
I am now very close to ordering my first starter rack. I'll be sure to post on the Aeqipment Registration thread when it's arrived.
Peace!

Hi all,
been lurking for a bit, time for an introduction i guess.
I've been making noise in some form or another since I was about 14 or so, mostly in punk and hardcore bands. During lockdown I decided to get back into audio production mostly out of boredom. The DAW i use [bitwig] has an integrated modular system which is fun to mess around with, which led me to vcv rack, which led me to considering selling a kidney to get into eurorack. Thankfully some more googling brought me here, i really love the idea behind this system. I ordered a starter system 2 earlier this month and it's already been shipped, the hype is real.

I just realized I never wrote my modular story post. I've been around here for a while got my first starterrack2 in December last year and have been on a sonic adventure since then, with lots of happy accidents, my first self built module and loads of interesting interactions on the forum. The second rack is waiting to be assembled, 2 more modules from keurslagerkurt and namke are to be built and Cirrus is ordered. And I have to come up with a track for the third AEtherwaves compilation. The future will make weird noises, just how I like it. Meanwhile I also study jazz guitar and saxophone. Make drone not drones.

Been into music making for ages but never clicked with anything for very long... Played with fruity loops, reason, every groovebox imaginable, 30+ different synths, the NDLR one of my faves.... But really found it hard to find that special place where the song creation and sound design can meet in a happy place.
The latest keeper for me is the mc707 which is acting like my mixer, effects box, interface and sound engine.
That was until I met you, little box of knobs and cables..... There's something that happened when I gave tangible waves a shot... And it was that I really really enjoyed myself. That place where I can get so close to expressing a thought or feeling became a fun and enjoyable process. All those synths I've bought in the past just end up feeling sort of cold and joyless.... But you... Your different. I understand now why people are obsessed with modular and Eurorack setups .... Sweeping through that saw with the wasp filter for the first was just pure audible bliss. Only thing close was the Dreadbox Typhon in terms of pure sonic deliciousness.
So now I am learning so much about electronics, sound design basics, so much learning that is accompanied with music theory and further getting closer to the moment where i can combine all my musical inspirations, all my emotional stories and expressions, and put them all together in one glorious ambient industrial metal synthwave dissonant monstrosity of a jam session that I can overlay some of my poetry and thoughts and end up with something cohesive and enjoyable to my ears.
Most probably through I'll just end up having a great time turning knobs and sticking cables in holes to make those beep boop blip sounds.

Hello!
My name is Corban, but I'm also known as Nabroc! I'm 26 years old, and AE modular will be my first modular system EVER! I'm also a monetized youtuber, as well as a composer and producer (not professionally unfortunately.) I have been making music since I was 16. I'm a big fan of electronic music! Specifically artists like deadmau5, Nine Inch Nails, Daft Punk, and Justice. I also enjoy rock bands like Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool, Clutch, Mcbaise, and many many more!
I'm new to the modular scene (kind of) in late 2020, I decided I wanted to build a eurorack. But the prices for the modules were very expensive and I didnt see any chance of building one after the pandemic hit. However, AE modular is VERY affordable and there are new modules coming out all the time! I'm excited to fulfill a dream and be part of an awesome community of people! Cheers!

I just discovered AE Modular yesterday when I came across an article on Synthtopia. I immediately liked the idea of a small affordable modular synth system and looked up the Tangible Waves website. I was excited when I found out that they are located in Murnau, a beautiful city in Bavaria. And as luck would have it, I am in Murnau right now on vacation. I contacted Robert and he responded super quick. He invited me to take a look at his office even though he was quite busy preparing his trip to Berlin (Superbooth 21). Thank you again, robertlanger , for taking the time to invite me to your office on a Sunday. Right now I am filling my shopping cart with a case and some modules and I can't wait to build my first AE Modular system. I guess, waiting time is a few months, though.

What's up fellow AE modular freaky children. I am new to both euro and AE modular, but not new at all to synths and various machines in general. I like all kinds of dance and rave/acid but also ambient and chillout stuff. In euro land I have a massive filter array where I split the stereo signal, spread it to multiple filters of different type, and mix it back down. I also have a few MI modules but otherwise it is mostly just filters. I learned about AE recently on the noisebug site, and I knew pretty quickly I wanted in. So I have marked a 6-tier standard case of various modules and accessories. I have placed a large order with the big man directly to take advantage of their sale, and I am in process of finalizing my items for one big order with noisebug. I am excited because I was able to go all out at a price I can afford, and it looks like in less space too. So I have the full modular now and I can just do whatever I imagine with very little limits. I have the Bastl machines also that I had bought a while ago and I am pleased to learn I can integrate them with AE. Musically my aim is to do ambient landscapes, but I also may make more aggressive stuff for sampling. I have essentially two systems (2-tier and 4-tier) that are independent so I can always have two things going--it will be so awesome.
