Maybe there is such a thread elsewhere?
feel free to add interesting things you find, in the spirit of scholarly whatever ...

I will admit...it's interesting watching Korg make promo videos for a synth that they've sold out of already...

I will admit...it's interesting watching Korg make promo videos for a synth that they've sold out of already... which one? The Korg ARP 2600 FS, with FS meaning "Full Size" keyboard. I imagine that a mini-keys version will emerge and the advertising will help sell those. A friend of mine (Ruud, who has the Notron on his head in the spotlight interview) tried to order an FS version almost immediately, only to be told that they were already sold out. Of course, Behringer are now showing out on their version.

my uneducated guess would be not to shy away from Behringer's take on this one with two filters and dimmable LED's (sure, LED's isn't a big thing, but - fun part).
Oh, they're not selling this one yet either.. and no keyboard.
Looking forward to hear the comparison between the two. Behringer is always on a question mark with all their rip-off's and quality, but the quality seems to grow and if the price is an issue it's a clear winner.

All the signs are for a launch at SuperBooth. Behringer are also asking potential buyers if they want them to make a keyboard for it. Interesting question with the new Arturia Keystep Pro offering quite a lot.

True, the KSP does offer quite a bit (hell, I've got one on my wishlist @ Sweetwater), but the ARP 3620 keyboard is a lot more than that. The new version adds sequencing and arpeggiation, but it also has the additional "modules" that were present in the original 3620, such as the extra LFO, et al.
I wouldn't mind the slim keys if they turned up on the 3620 redux; my big concern here is that, if Korg _does_ do a shrinky-dink 2600, they'll shrink the whole damn thing, potentially removing longstanding useful features in the process. And _I_ don't like shrinking the main 2600 unit itself, because I know from experience that the ARP 2600 is THE teaching synth for explaining analog synthesis to beginning synthesists. I even use it when explaining optimal methods for laying out modular systems, as Alan Pearlman got this thing right from Square One as far as the merger of design and signal flow.
And I am NOT buying a BARP 2600...Uli might do OK with CEM-based synths like the Pro-1, but the CEM chips majorly predate the tech in the 2600, and I doubt Behringer's abilities to work with the original sorts of components that were contemporary in 1970.

I hope I'm not going to be kicked out of this forum if I say that I really got G.A.S for the Korg Wavestate .. this thing sounds just absolutely amazing and the modulation capabilities are huge! IMHO the perfect complement to the AE Modular!

Keystep Pro was one of the highlights of NAMM for me.... I think this could be awesome with AE modular - though perhaps we need a 12IO module another thing which I think could be awesome with AE modular (and everthing else) is the Zoia Euroburo Ive been thinking about the Zoia for a while (as I have no effects pedals etc) , Zoia Euroburo for AE? well... there is an optional desktop case for it, so again, add some cv io to AE modular and you are good to go
on a more tech note: Id need check voltage outputs on both keystep pro and euroburo, they may be 0..5v anyway. but we could also use a sound machines nanobrigde for more CVIO - this saves precious AE rackspace. www.sound-machines.it/product/ns1nanobridge/

Heh...reminds me of the bad ol' days before VCA automation was common, when you'd always want a few sizes of rubber bands laying around the desk for fader "groups".

kThese are some of my favorite chanels of the last months. This one is pretty creative. And this one has really a lot of knowledge to offer. I really love this chanel. Hope Dr. Nim will find his way to the AE system one day already gave him a hint under one of his vids This guy really knows how to get gear together and make it sound nice. And the vine of his videos is so relaxed And I believe this one some of you may already know but maybe not everyone. I really don't know any chanel that offers such precise overviews over gear and what its abled to do. enjoy

This immediately reminded me of Kristoffer Myskja ! A artist who also builds kinetic sculptures, not that much sound related only some I think, but with a similar kind of inzination and look. But I really like this sculpture. Its so build up pretty simple, but with such a super cool and complex result. I love mixed radio sounds.

that last video of Hainbach was awesome... I came away wanting to build an analog computer! (... Hainbach always inspires me to want to try something !)
Mescaline - I had a one for a year or so and really enjoyed it (another Kickstarter purchase iirc), a weird beast - that you never quite knew what it would throw at you, and yeah is a piece of art to look at !
It was Mescaline, and the Koma Field Kit(s) that started me towards Eurorack (be warned!), then when the Bela Salt was announced, that was it... I had fallen into the Eurorack black hole. Ironically, that move to Eurorack, which it had inspired, was why I ended up passing it on... because i wanted it in my rack, but it took up so much space, also by then I was interested in getting more melodic modules.
I would like something similar again, and think perhaps AE has a lot of potential for similar things esp. given its open diy nature.

Now, when I checked out the website for Willem Twee studios, I spotted that amonsgt their very interesting courses and workshops there were these two: Analog computer techniques and use in analog (voltagecontrolled) sound synthesis. (2 days)Analog computer technique: history and applications; operating and controlling, modules and programming (patching); use in the analog studio (audio and sub-audio); analog computer techniques in analog synthesizer design. Analog Signal Processing (ASP)-extended techniques. (1 day)Advanced techniques for analog sound synthesis; technical historical backgrounds and the use in electronic sound synthesis and music.

Has anyone watched Look Mum No Computer lately? The Gameboy Mega Machine project looks absolutely bonkers (I hope I'm using this term correctly)!
Sam is going out of control ... his synths are getting not just bigger and bigger, but they are ENORMOUS! Imagine travelling with this gear!
