Ah, I see. It's the end of January 2023, not 23 January.

Ah, I see. It's the end of January 2023, not 23 January. The rest of the world catches Americans out quite often with that one

Good luck with that - the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on rains is because I have two orders in currently dating back to October and November... expect a wait would be my advice.

If you ordered it now they would probably throw it in with one of those two orders through, right...? (sorry if this is pouring fuel on the G.A.S.)

Maybe, though my point was more that they seem to have a 3+ month backlog on orders, so while the talk was of being able to build late January, the backlog/que appears much longer than that. I'm hanging fire - I'll most likely get one but would like my other orders first and have my TBD version while I wait!

Ah - i get what you mean. that's true, although for some reason i always feel that 'just released' modules get pushed ahead a bit in fulfilment; maybe that's just my optimism talking though

Yeah, longest I've waited on a an order was seven months. That was during the height of the pandemic. Three or four months is about twice as fast. Seriously considering buying a few Daisy Seed microcontrollers to start building out some of my own modules.

Well its raining here: arrived!
I basically succumb to it due to using it lots on the TBD, and my issue with one of those forced my hand into buying the 'proper' version.
No audio yet but it's a beautiful looking module in black & and has my favourite thing - attenuverters on CV inputs - going on. Loads more control than the TBD version too, though the only downer is I don't think I can do the CV to model thing I like doing with that.
Hope to get stuck in later...

It is worth the wait, I have not even scratched the surface on this module, so deep.

Amazingly, the postman literally just came with this right as the weather changed from sunny to windy with rain!

A word to the wise - it might just be my setup / layout, but the module seemed to need PSU to be turned on at the source (wall) before connecting power to AE in order for RAINS to wake up. I know a few of the other more digital modules had the same thing too. Not a problem, just worth knowing for people who might worry their Rains doesn't work if they haven't encountered this before (also an excellent reason to invest in the inline power switch Robert sells) I've only managed to have a short play so far but the sounds are absolutely stunning! I'll have to dive into the manual for the finer details but this is definitely NOT Cirrus levels of complexity - a clock to strum input and CV source to 1v/oct is all you need for instant ambient goodness.

DIVKID made a very complete review of MI RINGS which was very helpful to figure out Rains.

My new rack with RAINS and other modules arrived but I'm away from home for two weeks and I already have a patch setup for an open mic night! The TORTURE!!! When I get home it'll be staring at me for another week before I try it!

How is the noise on the output of other users modules? Mine has a very noticeable high frequency whine going on. Not sure at this point whether it's my module or the run, but it's not a good start.

I haven't tried listening on headphones, but can't say I noticed anything...

Thanks, this one is definitely out of the ordinary - significantly louder whine than on anything else in the system. I'll send Robert a sample...

Do you get the same result when simply powering RAINs and nothing else?

I got the same result when moving the module and powering 2x16 instead of 3x16 from my psu, working fine for everything else, so I'm pretty convinced it's a module issue - guessing the wrong or a faulty cap used on the noise filtering.

I know the recent blog mentioned the shipping delay was caused by a last-minute issue requiring hand soldering to fix - wonder if that was a noise issue and if the manual fix on yours might be missing or not quite right. Frustrating!

Frustrating! A little yes! Robert will know and he's on it so we'll see what pans out...
