A word to the wise - it might just be my setup / layout, but the module seemed to need PSU to be turned on at the source (wall) before connecting power to AE in order for RAINS to wake up. I know a few of the other more digital modules had the same thing too. Not a problem, just worth knowing for people who might worry their Rains doesn't work if they haven't encountered this before (also an excellent reason to invest in the inline power switch Robert sells) I've only managed to have a short play so far but the sounds are absolutely stunning! I'll have to dive into the manual for the finer details but this is definitely NOT Cirrus levels of complexity - a clock to strum input and CV source to 1v/oct is all you need for instant ambient goodness. Complexity wise one thing that wasn't instantly obvious to me on the TBD version is that you can use external audio to activate the resonator on the input. Think you can strum at the same time too... Bonkers!

How is the noise on the output of other users modules? Mine has a very noticeable high frequency whine going on. Not sure at this point whether it's my module or the run, but it's not a good start. Mine arrived today, is fine on headphones and studio monitors. Got some brilliant whines out of when I fed the wavetables into it

Also pleased to report that all the "secret" modes are present and correct (although getting into the one where you have to set the knobs to specific positions is a bit tricky, because they aren't laid out like on the original module). SO many different sounds in this thing!
I note from the manual:
it might just be me, but I don't think the v/oct method works here. Perhaps its calibrated in the firmware for a hotter signal than AE provides. Not a big deal IMO

I pasted this link because for some reason dizzeesatchel link does not work for me despite it looking identical as the one I pasted.

something interesting in the manual:
The module makes a continuous noise
... even when nothing is patched in the STRUM or IN input.
Recalibrate the normalization detector with the following procedure:
Make sure nothing is plugged in the module (no input, no output). Hold the two buttons simultaneously, until the first LED blinks in orange (the second LED is then off). Release the buttons. Again, hold the two buttons simultaneously, until the 2 LEDs blink in red. Release the buttons. Press shortly on the first button. The 2 LEDs blink in green. Press shortly on the first button. The module should go back to normal.

Interesting - I read that to mean a 'stuck on' resonator as opposed to the noise issue I have, though it's probably worth a try?

Yeah your description of a whine didn't sound like what I imagine the manual is referring to, but definitely worth a try!!

yes exactly, I don't think your issue might be related to this, but it's still worth a shot I guess.

I guess I'll wait and see what Robert thinks first...

This video does a nice job of highlighting some of the less-obvious sounds you can get out of Rings, including the secret modes

his ‘part 2’ video sold me on it , was holding out as i have ipad Au versions but tweakability and easter eggs softened me up like a gentle meat tenderising hammer :]

You're going to have a blast with them! This has probably been discussed somewhere - can't remember - but I'm assuming that CIRRUS now ships with the patched firmware which fixes the tuning issues

Woot! Just received Cirrus and Rains! Enjoy! Any chance you could let me know if the rains is noisy (as in high pitched) with nothing triggered/stimulated when you've had a play?

Mine seems to be working fine. No noise, and it works well. I've stimulated the resonator with TRIP, sample-and-hold, even just basic LFOs and logic even. I'm having a little weirdness with the polyphonic, but I think that's me not understanding the module very well at this point.

Thanks for that - I think mine is the only noisy one out there so far... hope that can be resolved soon. Polyphony wise I think it's how many notes ring out - so you can send a new pitch and it will ring out over the last pitch played. I haven't tested that properly though so take it with a pinch.

Cirrus and Rains, the PB & J of AE modular. But unlike their organic counterparts they allow you to cook up a very wide range of flavors. I hope more MI clones will make their way to the AE format.

Hi! Anyone know if the Cirrus Classic support the alternative firmwares? Beat repeat firmware for example?
