I hooked up the AE Modular with my Koma Field Kits and created some haunting, cinematic Sci-Fi ambient sounds

that's really great,
id love to hear more about how you have patched this, some really enjoyable sounds in there.
also are you mainly using the field kits for mixing and fx, or are you also sending cv back to AEM ?

Thank you! I wish I remember how I patched this exactly, it is hard to make patch notes with the AE Modular. I used the Field Kits mainly for mixing and effects. I also sent the crackle out from the noise module into the envelope follower to create random gates which I sent into the logic module together with some gates from the TRIG164 to reset the sequencer. The Field Kits LFO acts as master clock and the CV from the 4-Step sequencer went into the attenuator and then into the CV2 input from the VCO. Also, I used some random CVs from the S&H to modulate parameters on the Field Kit FX.

did you have to amplify the signal/gain quite a bit into the envelope follower? I found the AE levels quite low, and wouldn't trigger it without this? (i was coincidentally playing with the yesterday ) Im really interested in how you get his ambient vibe, its something I've been attempting, with not much success... I think one of the really nice things about this piece, is how your drone is really evolving slowly...but you can still feel its movement. when i attempt this, its either too fast, or so slow you just cannot feel it, it also feels a bit to one dimensional - any tips?

No, I did not have to amplify it, I sent the output straight into the input of the envelope follower. What do you mean by drone, the "growling" thing which I blend in later on or the shimmering sound thing which is going through the Multi FX?
Of course in genereal, key element is the shimmer reverb (minum amount of DRY and fully WET) which is effecting a sequence from the single VCO.
Also I don't use a VCA on the melody line, only the filter which I am modulating with an envelope (most of the time long envelopes with medium attack) which is triggered by the TRIQ164 and also an LFO I think. Finding the sweetspot on the filter cutoff is also a thing, most of the time I tried to find a spot where you almost can't hear the sequence anymore. In addition I sent in the CV from the 4-Step Sequencer from the FKFX, which I blend in with the 2ATT/CV into CV2 of the VCO to get more variation into the sequence. Randomly reseting the sequencer makes it also more "evolving". It is a bit hard to explain and also hard for me to remember because I don't have the patch anymore. But I just made another video which I will post in this thread. If you have any questions to that one, I am sure that I can answer your questions more precisely
