hi, i am interesting in the starter rack 1.. but thinking to go in 20x1 rack and adding things.. yes, 1 line rack for limit and learn slowly...... but... i use a few vcv, elektron gear, dreadbox gear too, i play music for myself like therapy/weekend/loose my mine in space.. and want try to go on modular for an other place standalone system.. looking fun place.. so i am a newbie and not in the same time... i love how Sawvox sound on demo, is it a good idea if i replace VCO by this ? (and no idea if is it possible to repace something on starter rack..) i think add 4 i/o too, i am a owner of a korg sq-1 for sequencing and i have different pedal effect but... i love solina, multi fx, ms 20 filter too.. ok wavetables is nice too.. but.. maybe adding all of this is not a good idea for begin... advice about this ? or just add solina and multifx with ?? (just try to found a balances rack 1+) i am interesting in the sea of drone/experiment/ambient thing.. or forget all, save your bucket and go on starter rack 2 for begin, add 4 i/o if want and comeback in 6 months !! thank you for your help and time.. i have time to take decision, i don’t have all the money i need but it is on the way..

Multifx + solina are a good starter choice for drone/ambient, I highly suggest these two and some extra filters 😊

hi and thanks for your answer ! what do you suggest about filter if i add solina to 2OSC/d and Sawvox ? about filter i looking for ms20 to add.. or ? with starter rack 1 there is SV filter (keep or change ?) what do you suggest ? ? ? very interesting for advice if i go in the configuration starter rack 1 (but in 20x1) with add Sawvox (in place of VCO), Solina, Multi fx, 4 i/o, maybe like ms20 filter (or..?..more..)... is there something more to take account or it is good ? thx

I would not get rid of the standard VCO. It’s really nice! SV filter is great. MS20 is nice for low sounds, and can even become a pure sine wave osc!
Wasp is nice if you want percussive sounds.
Something to consider: if you plan on mixing dual channel sounds (from multifx), along side mono sounds, you will need a second mixer.

I would say, for drones/ambient the more filters the better. It keeps the sound interesting and diversified.

I would say, for drones/ambient the more filters the better. It keeps the sound interesting and diversified. ...and plenty of modulation sources for those filters. That makes it even more interesting Adding a POLAMIX, for example, then enables you to get more creative with those modulation sources.
I had been using my AE Modular pretty much exclusively for the ambient parts around my recordings. Almost every recording uses the AE Modular in that way, and now, armed with the POLAMIX, I've managed to get even more movement in there. Some of it is glacial movement, admittedly, but then my music isn't Jungle

hi,
so...
i think go for a starter rack one, i think no add a bigger case for begin, go slowly.....
but i would like to finish the rack and add things for the 3 places..
i don’t know how i will use my ae modular, alone or not.. but need discover another place of fun and use !
but i have a korg sq-1 for sequencing and/or an analog four too... so i think..
- get 4I/O for use if i want in the same time for exemple sequencing vco with my analog four and use sq-1 for sequencing independently 2osc/d or... maybe plug a pedal (i have various pedal audio..) on an output...
- maybe add 1 filter like M20, but not sure if good idea, in the same time on system 1 there are 3 oscillator and just 1 filter so maybe....
- no idea what add......
so thank you for your advice on what will be more think to add for complete this system..

Is you plan to use external gear such as sequencer or pedal, the 4I/O can be a good idea indeed. As for the Filter, it is a great addition to shape your sound as you wish. I don't own the MS20 Filter, yet, but it is definetly on the "to get list". slowscape use the MS20 filter as a sine wave in self resonance, so it can also be an oscillator. That leav you if 1 free space. I don't know what you can add, maybe the QUANTIZER?
