A module that will track the volume of a signal and output a CV that varies with that volume.

First line on the link above: “Envelope followers are one of those little utilities that may seem uninteresting at first glance”
...yup! Haha

I don't have one to try it with yet but patching an audio signal into the sustain CV input of the adsr might well give us an envelope follower in AE world. Worth trying the decay too if not.

Super-useful thingy. One of my fave uses was to connect the envelope follower on an ARP 2600 to the VCF cutoff, then invert the control signal so that quiet sounds could be "muffled" further by the filter, and the louder things got, the more that would open, so that timbral and dynamic changes could be directly linked. Also, if your patch has a lot of background crud at a very low level, you can use the envelope follower to track your signal after the mixer, then send a control signal from it to a VCA after the mixer (and the follower's "tap") and, voila, instant noise gate!
Lots of usefulness in these...

There is one on the MS20. It's part of the External System Processor (ESP).
Mark Doty (I wonder if he is aware of AE (I also wonder if AE as in Autechre are too 😉 be cool to hear what they could do with it) made a very informative video showing how it works
