Hey,
I’ve owned an AE Modular (2x16) for six months, and I’m looking to expand by getting a second case. I have a rough idea of what I’d like to populate it with, but can’t decide what’s best when it comes to powering it.
My options are:
1.) Buy a second MASTER I/O module and power supply; 2.) Look at using the RACKLINK modules.
Thoughts and opinions are welcome, especially when it comes to the RACKLINK.
Thanks.

Possibly neither! If your first case has the pin-outs on the upper and lower sides of the left end, you're actually already set to power case #2. Plus, that setup would allow you to add modules to the space that the MASTER or POWER would occupy. All you would need would be a case link kit, which includes the physical links (which _also_ allow you to tilt the rear cab) as well as the ribbon to link the cabs at those linking pin-outs. The POWER and MASTER modules actually output enough current to power two 2 x 20 cases...another nifty sneak AE feature!

Oh, yeah, I've noticed the pins at the top of the case (and the bottom, too). Just having a look at the case hinges on the AE store, and I think that the Type 1 hinge kit would suit me and my setup best. Frees up a few spaces in a case for more good stuff!
Thanks!

Yes, the hinge kit contains also the connection cable between the two cases! And the MASTER provides enough power for a second case.
