hi, how can i cv control the modules with a keystep pro using cv if the ports on the keystepro are 1/8 inch and the AE modules only have this tiny ports; are there cables or converters 1/8 to AE modular?
thanks in advance

The master module has convertors so you can patch the cables into it and take the output from the patch point. There are two cvand 2 audio. There's also the interface module.

Just to add my few penn'orth here (I hope I'm not trying to steal anyone's thunder), but I'm a newcomer and this is what I use.
I've mostly been using my AE while stuck in bed (as I'm disabled and bedbound a lot of the time). So I sit it on my knees, with a 3.5mm terminated lead connecting to a stereo. I stick that in either "audio 1 I/O" or "audio 2 I/O" on the Master I/O module. This amplifier is then accessible by using the top two sockets on the pinout connections. That's it. No switching or any other messing around. It's effectively just a fancy adapter.
I also use the other audio I/O for connecting the audio IN from my Minibrute 2 or Microfreak, for example and routing those same pins into the mixer module.
I hope you understand my clumsy description.
But, purely for ease of use (as I wanted to add more inputs), I bought the 4I/O module which does this same job, but offers 4 more I/Os, so I now have a total of 6 to play with.

hi again, it’s been a really long time. i’m trying ti trigger and sequence 4 different modules or patches directly from the keystep pro channels: do you all think i can make 4 cv cables out of a AE tiny socket patch cables and 1/8” cables? or can i just control all 4 channels from the main control i/os? (i have two systems so i have 2 MASTER I/O modules) thanks in advance and thanks for all your replies.

you will need to have one one 3.5 mm jack connection capable of dealing with cv per incoming cv. So if you have two master modules then those provide you with 2 CV connectors per module and that leaves you with 4 income CVs that can be processed independently in your AE modular.

Isn't the 4 I/O module meant for this?

Isn't the 4 I/O module meant for this? Absolutely, and your master module can do the same in absence of a 4I/O module.

What I would do is one CV channel from the keystep to one of the 3.5mm (1/8") sockets on the Master - you have 2 on each Master. Then those CVs are available to patch wherever you like from the master modules' relevant patch sockets, If you need them to go to more than one place, you can use a MULT or, (best for pitch etc. for accuracy), the 4 Buffer module. If this is unclear the wiki page might help:-

oohhh my apologies i think i’m starting to understand now! so all i have to do is connect the 3.5mm cv cables from the keystep pro on each ctrl i/o of the MASTER I/O so that means each master i/o gives me 2 channels right? and from there i can CV patch/control any device via patching ctrl 1|2 i/o?
so sorry i’ve only controlled my systems using the breakout midi cable until now. so my head is still trying to wrap around this concepts of cv
appreciate everyone’s help and info

However, once you get it, it becomes second nature and is IMO more flexible than MIDI, but you can of course combine MIDI and CV if your external gear can do both. Unfortunately, the MIDI implementation on AE side is either rather limited, you can either specify 1 midi channel to which it will react or make it react to every midi signal received no matter what channel it was sent on. Perhaps one day there will be a dedicated interface module that can handle multiple channels and not only receive MIDI but also send it.

hi everyone: i’ve tried connecting a cable from cv out from either the keystep pro or the arp2600 and… nothing happens no tempo sync the lights in the master i/o won’t even blink. but when i send midi via the breakout cable it does receive data and lights blink. what i am teying to get to di is: use a keystep pro to sync and sequence; channel 1- the AE systems(drums mostly), channel 2-moog sub25, channel 3-poly D and channel 4-Arp2600. i’ve managed to sync all 2,3 and 4 channels. but the channel one i haven been able to successfully connect and sync/drum sequence te EA systems. hope all that was clear thanks one more time Rami.

If you send cv information from an external device via the mini jack connector on the power/master module or a 4 I/O module then you will not see any visual indicators (i.e. blinking leds) you have to connect the received gate/triggers to for example an env module to see whether it receives a signal since that module will blink a led.
