If we really can go crazy: a 'shield' for a raspi with a little oled display and AE compatible cv/audio I/O an perhaps a few buttons or pot meters a bit like the bella modules for eurorack. Oh yeeeahhh. This would be cool. Do I sense a Menone nornes type integration.....as aside, I'm thinking of purchasing one at the moment but looking into whether it would actually add value or add that sense of confusion.....

I bought the cheaper Norns Shield at the start of the year. It's a miracle box imo - i have to confess i haven't used it in tandem with AE a huge amount yet, it's such a good standalone device! But there's definitely tons of potential there, i think one of the most useful things it brings to a modular setup is complex sequencing; there are so many interesting scripts in a generative vein with midi-out. Like Flora and Jala both of which are so immediately musical that you can just set them running and focus on tweaking your AE patch while the sequence mutates pleasantly. And then there are loads of effect-type scripts which are great for mangling sound/sampling.
The choices are almost overwhelming but after trying everything out you'll probably settle on a handful of favourite scripts and get in depth on those.

Thanks for the feedback on the nornes dizzeesatchel yes the shield is the one I am looking at too. Great to know it's a little miracle box iyho and does work with the Ae which is the main goal. The easy sampling capabilities in a little box is whats drawing me in. Seems like it has a similar community uploading scripts so might continue to evolve.

I will try and do a little demo video with some of the scripts interacting with Ae! Super easy to connect the two with a cheap USB > DIN midi cable

r2r! This seems like it would be easy. Perhaps a dual?

r2r! This seems like it would be easy. Perhaps a dual? Wow, seems like a super easy to port module indeed. And might make a great companion to my soon-to-be-released Five Steps kit, as this one outputs four digital signals as well. Will try to wip up a quick PCB version of this one today, and order it together with the 'final' Five Steps & Sloths PCB's. The design reminds me of the Ciat-Lonbarde paper circuits. Have seen it as barebones DAC, but haven't thought of it as a fun module in itself.

I’m not familiar with an r2r and i just read an entire webpage about it and still don’t get it But i’m sure it’s cool and the more modules which are ‘outside the norm’ the better!

This being (mostly) a wish list, and being the largest thread on the forum by far, do we need to spend more time using what we've got?!!

This being (mostly) a wish list, and being the largest thread on the forum by far, do we need to spend more time using what we've got?!! As long as it's not a "if I have this module then everything will work out for me" list then we're ok I guess otherwise it's indeed more patching less wishing for that extra module. Then again, some people fill their place with guitars that never get played, I prefer to be a player rather than a hoarder but to each his/her/their own.

I’ve been fiddling with the drum modules lately, and miss having cv control of all parameters on the kick drum (and the Tom, snare, hat etc that I hope are in the pipeline), a bit like the rz1 on the grains. Also, it would be super to have a drum kit module with individual outs for each sound.
aaaand I would love to have a kick with crazy long decay and maybe resonance, for those cray cray bass drums. the leploop multicassa has pretty funky controls and can go into self oscillation! (But also has kind of a narrow range of sounds, so it’s not perfect)

Only a true lover of circles (the 2D shape, not the module) could argue otherwise. Well done!

I think this could be an incredible addition to the AE ecosystem: I think its a bit similar to the 'shield for a raspi' that pt3r suggested, as this module basicly runs Python on a Raspi. But the demo is really fascinating to see how well python integrates in his small modular setup.

I have been looking into raspi zeroes but they don't like the 5 volts which could probably be solved by adding some extra components in the equation. But having python or even better Puredata running in a module would be absolutely fab.

What about an old-fashioned ring modulator?

What about an old fashioned ring modulator? Totally ! I've been thinking about that too for some time, it would be really cool !

Ring mod, basic audio freeze, compressor/limiter with side chain input Whatever crazy effects 🤞

Something came to me in a patch session today - I'd love a 'complex' sequencer! Not with presets or anything, but something that's maybe capable of multiple sequences like MakeNoise's René. That'd make a huge difference!

I'd love a 'complex' sequencer! Yeah, I've been wanting a complex sequencer for a while.

Would it not make more sense to make the complex sequencer in puredata -> this could run on a small footprint like a raspberry pi, and make a multichannel midi module?

Yeah, a Raspberry Pi would be the best way to do it.

Had a chat with the creator of the EuroPi (Allen Synthesis) today to ask him if he'd be okay with me looking into an AE version. He was super kind and helpful, and very enthousiastic about it 😊
I looked into the hardware schematic, and it would actually become simpler for AE, as RPi Pico works on 5V already. I ordered my Pi Pico today so i could test it all on breadboard, and i'll report back on the DIY forum once I got something 😃

The fact that it runs of 5 volt is one thing, all IO is still limited to 3.3v which makes stuff more complex. :-(
