Sadly, I learn that Kraftwerk's Florian Schneider passed away. It is here that I confess that my electronica appetite was first kindled in Dusseldorf, not Berlin.

Sadly, I learn that Kraftwerk's Florian Schneider passed away. It is here that I confess that my electronica appetite was first kindled in Dusseldorf, not Berlin. That is so true. Although I grew up in Berlin, my first love for electronic music was kindled with the album "Computerwelt" by Kraftwerk when I was in 6th grade primary school. Then I took a detour via Depeche Mode to discover Tangerine Dream, which has been the constant soundtrack of my life ever since. But Kraftwerk will always be the first! Goodbye Florian .. your music changed my life.

Massive influence on me. Computer World blew my mind when I first heard it and it still stands up today. Timeless. I also have an original German pressing of the Radioactive album. It is a very fine album. Sadly missed. RIP Florian.

Sucks...but at least he left behind a lot of inspiring stuff in his years with Kraftwerk. I remember hearing "Autobahn" when it came out back in 1974 or thereabouts, stuff had an impact like itching powder! I'm still scratching that electronic sonic itch decades later...
