Hi.
Just got my starter rack this weekend and loving it.
I've been using my microkorg to sequence arpeggios on the AE. The gate and pitch signals are working fine but the bus clock isn't picking up anything. I've made sure that the microkorg is set to internal clock, but still nothing. The clock light on the master never comes on.
Any help would be much appreciated, has anyone else clocked the AE off a microkorg? Is there something I need to patch? As far as I can see there's not an input for the bus clock on the master either?

Hi, maybe the Microcorg has an option to send / enable MIDI clock? Sounds like this is not the case...

Usually you only get a clock if a MIDI device has a START/STOP function like the Keystep, Beatstep or any Groovebox, eg. Novation Circuit, Electribe, etc. Can you select a BPM on the Microkorg?

Yes you can. I can't help right now but I'd suggest looking at the manual.

Thanks. I've already done this but still not getting anything. I looked on YouTube but couldn't see any videos of people using a microkorg with the AE. You can set the BPM on the KORG. But there is no global start/stop button, only a start/stop for the arpeggiator, if you stop the arp, other elements on the KORG like the delay time and lfo sync are still tied to that BPM. So the midi clock is always running, but has no start or stop point. Maybe that is the issue. I'm thinking of picking up an sq-1. Can someone confirm this is able to send midi pitch, gate and clock? Thanks for everyone's input.

The MK is normally able to send in midi clock signals. Do you have any other device which can do that to test ?

Hi, I use SQ1 with AEM occasionaly - sending clock or controlling osc pitch and gate with it, both - via midi and patch cables if my memory serves me right. Any specific settings You would wish to check for You?

Tonight I got an old Roland keyboard out of the attic and tried it. It works fine, sending clock via midi. So I now know the fault isn't with the AE. I'll keep trying with the microkorg. If I get it working I'll post the fix.

Is it possible to output one sequence via midi and the other via CV. So to have a midi playing one OSC via the bus CV on the AE and then use a CV out from the SQ playing a second sequence on another OSC via patching from a CTRL I/O port on the AE?

You can do that. I've just checked - two differnet cvs and two separate gates were received by AEM at the same time - one via midi and bus outputs on the modules and the other via cv and gates outputs of SQ1 and AEM's CTRL I/O. Plus - sending clock via midi makes the clock signal beeing sent only when the sequence on SQ1 is playing, but sending clock via SQ1 sync output works even with the sequence stopped, so You may choose or, having 4I/O module, You may combine the ways of sending clocks. For example - with the above patching going on I've used MIDI clock to run BEAT DIVIDER and trigger KICK when the SQ1 sequence is running and I've also used SYNC output clock via 4I/O to run a SQ16 sequence even with SQ1 stopped.

Yes, I've gone through every possible setting on the AE and the Microkorg. I'm pretty sure it's down to not having a dedicated start/stop button
