Someone posted this on the synthesizors,yo Discord channel. We've all seen the Koma Electronics Fieldkit, which got me wondering, would be cool to have some AEnvriondules[tm] to interact with our (currently very restricted) surroundings, would it not? I know there are some DIY projects out there, but some Tangible Waves AE modules would be neat. Create a drone by patching a banana, or a lemon ...

Pleeease don't post something like this; because I'm hooked immediately and forget my regular production and shipping work ;-) ...seriously: I already looked a lot to these approaches and I like it! Absolutely realistic that something comes up sooner or later! Maybe the AE DIY community can contribute some impulses for such a module? I will not grab them without some return if a module develops out of it...

Hmmm...you'd need something with EXTREMELY high gain for biosignals. I recall using ARP 2600 preamps a few times for this sort of thing, since you had that x1000 setting there. Probably don't want to use a normal preamplifier circuit, either...something more akin to a differential preamp might make more sense. You'd also need to sort out something for variable input impedance, since not all "sources" will present the same preamp loading, and at ultra-tiny signal levels that can be critical. Also...filtering. You need to be able to restrict your sampling bandwidth with these sorts of implementations. Lastly, the "pickup" connector SHOULD NOT be a Dupont jack...you don't want to accidentally patch a synth-level signal into something working at those gain levels. Proper banana jacks would make more sense there.
One thing that COULD be added quickly, though, would be the sort of photoresistors that Bastl includes with some of their toys. Since the Bastl stuff talks the same CVs as AE, that's an easy-peasy thing to drop in...just stick 'em into a patch just like they were yet another Dupont wire.

More distraction from composing, but it does look like fun!
