Hi all,
I've maxed out my Starter Kit 2 and want to expand to a second 2x16 case, but I'm a bit confused about exactly what is required. I know I need the case itself and some bus cables, but do I need another master module for the second case? and what cable is actually used to link the two cases?
Sorry if this is explained elsewhere, but I've read the shop pages for everything and searched on the forums, but couldn't find anything.
Thanks, DD

Hi, If You have new type of case with Your 2rack, You'll need another case - 16x2 Standard (new type also), no additional Master is required, You also need a proper bus cables (standard x2) matching Your new case. For the older type of case You would need Rackling module (plus the case and bus cable as stated above). I'm expanding mine 16x2 now but with a Racklink, so my new case expansion explanation may require some proof reading by more seasoned user. Hope it helps

As arti explained, it depends if you have an older case or a new one - the new one has a 10-pin header front and back of the case.
If old case: use a RACKLINK kit if new case: use a HINGE KIT which includes a short cable that connects the pin headers of the cases. Via this the power supply and the bus signals like CV, Gate etc. are shared between the cases.
If you don't want to connect the cases mechanically with the hinge kit, a piece of ribbon cable with plugs (like the bus cable) works too. This is not a standard product up to now, but please PM me if interested.
For both, no extra MASTER module is needed, one is enough to supply at least two 16x2 cases full of modules.
HTH, Robert

Amazing! Thank you both for the info. I hadn't realised the hinge kit came with the cable, that's brilliant! I'll put my order in now :-)

SECOND case? Bit late for that here... I'm pondering my 3rd case, but may just switch to 2 new (big) cases as I'm old school with racklink currently....

When we get the Performance Mixer, I'll probably be looking at moving on to Case #5 here...although THIS one will probably lay flat in front of the stand and house primarily the mixer, other controllers, etc.
