Hey Everyone,
I recently used my sequencer from my miniloque into my AE modular and really enjoyed it. I was wondering if there was an easy way to use one of those cheap USB MIDI controllers to send MIDI to the modular. I know they make small interfaces for USB to MIDI but I was wondering if there was a work around for this.

I use HobbyTronics MIDI USB to DIN for this. Works flawlessly and is super affordable. One point to be aware of is that some USB gear presents itself as 2 devices to the host (one handling note related data, the other system stuff, clock, etc.) and with the above solution, you can't select between them. However, this is generally only an issue if you are slaving the USB side of things with the DIN MIDI device acting as master for clock. Of course, this wouldn't be an issue for controlling the AE modular but worth knowing if you ever want to go the other way to sync devices, control sequencers, etc.

another +1 for axoloti ... its a great way to do this. also because doing this midi 'conversion' takes virtually no cpu, you can also still use Axoloti as an FX board for AEM (I have a few axolotis, one of which always boots to midi conversion with MI clouds for audio effects ) anyway, there are quite a few options in this field.... depending upon budget/requirements.

I always see you guys talking about axolotis but I just looked into them and I have to say they look pretty cool Do you know if its possible to run Max 8 on one?

This would be awesome! I added it quite a while ago to the 'factory' firmware of Axoloti, along with elements, braids etc. Its an object called 'clds' , just search for in in the object library and add to your patch I think I included a help patch for it, which shows it being used for input, but you can use it part of a synth patch, or whatever you want... such is the fun of axoloti!
