Hei, I'm aiming to use my system while playing guitar or bass. I'd like to use my feet for CV control. I know I could get some special box from Copilot Fx but I came across Mission Engineering 5-CV. Seems good on paper with two CV out (one been invert of the other) going up to 5v which is kinda good match with the Ae system. However, The CV connection are done via TRS (aka stereo cable)? kinda don't understand why if it really send CV a mono cable should do it? How should I connect it after? Or is it better I'd stay away from this (and go to practice instead of googling stuff when I haven't even install my extension case which already arrived a week ago... )? Edit: On a site it say that it's: TRS tip to wiper. So I guess, if I plug it into the crtl input of the Master it should work? Tip should be left channel if I understand right?

Great question! You’re correct in your assumptions regarding the 5-CV pedal. However, a normal guitar expression pedal is usually just a potentiometer with a foot pedal instead of a knob. So it works like a passive attenuator. An effect pedal sends a CV signal to the expression pedal via the ring and receives the attenuated signal via the tip of the TRS jack cable. Here’s a picture: Source: expressionpedals.com/how-expression-pedals-workThis means that you don’t need to buy an expensive, active CV pedal. You can buy the cheapest passive expression pedal you can find! Simply send it a static 5V signal* from the AE Modular on the ring connection and return the output signal into the modular synth and use it in your patch. The 4I/O module supports TRS jacks, so you will only need one 3.5mm TRS to 6.3mm TRS cable between the AE Modular and the expression pedal. If you use the Master I/O module, you can use the two CTRL sockets with a dual 3.5mm TS to 6.3mm TRS Y cable. ——— * ... or any other signal, like an LFO or VCO signal.

Yes, try it out and report back You should also be able to reverse the pedal direction by sending 5V (or something else) to the tip and receiving the ring.

Took me 5 min and working right away! I cut the plug of the Lead Foot LFX-1 I had around. Soldered 3 patch cables And voila! Still gotta experiment with the other sensor I have. But might had a couple more... Thanks again was way cheaper than the CV pedal!
