I saw that Noisebug had Starter 2s in stock so I bought one. Looking forward to using/learning this synth. I came here via Lugia from the Modular Grid forums. I want to learn synthesis and write my own music for my fishing adventure videos on YouTube.

This is an example of this kinds of videos I make. They're like short documentary films really. After 700+ videos I've begun to exhaust the YouTube audio library. So I figure why not write my own music?

No joke, you’ve become my new favorite YouTube channel. Relaxing, entertaining — the way the sounds of the boat and water interplay with the ambient background music — I’m really looking forward to seeing where this modular+fishing journey leads!

Smart move!!! Welcome to the cost-effective end of modular synthesis, where we might have to hassle a bit more with pin wires, but we're all laughing our way to the bank! In fact, just as a comparison, I cobbled up an off-the-cuff facsimile of a Starter 2 on MG in Eurorack. Assuming a basic 2 x 104hp cab such as Tiptop's Mantis at $335 street, the result would come in at $2485. And that's with very basic modules, as close as possible (a few things such as the BEAT DIVIDER don't have exact parallels in Euro, or at least, not any I could find, and the MASTER got split into a separate P/S and MIDI interface) to what's present in the Starter 2.
And with 13 blank spaces, it's super-easy and super-CHEAP to expand the Starter 2. You might spend up to, oh, $300-400 doing that!
Yeah, it's simplistic. So's a Buchla 100. And given that the Red Panel 100 module Eurorack reissues from Buchla go for as much as $499 (which is only $46 cheaper than the ENTIRE Starter 2!), yeah, this starts to make infinitely more sense.

Wow! I have no clue about fishing, but I’ve watched two of your videos now and they’re really accessible and indeed quite relaxing as well. I can totally see a modular synth working for these kinds of productions. Looking forward to hear your music

I went into watching this video thinking "How could a person's SEVEN HUNDREDTH fishing video be entertaining at all??? Come on... Seriously?"
And then I watched the video.
This is one of the most genuine, refreshing, relaxing, and passion-exuding videos that I've ever seen.
Your work is wonderful. Please keep doing this.

funbun, I am sooo looking forward to this! I grew up on the Tamar estuary in Tasmania and I really miss that feeling of being up a river somewhere, waiting for a bite. Up a river somewhere, with a synthesizer would be heaven!
I often run my AE rig from ten AA rechargeable batteries so maybe you could take the synth on the boat with you. OK, lots of sensible reasons NOT to do that, but I'd still be tempted.
keep the videos coming! I am really looking forward to your own soundtracks.
