Been using AE Modular for a while - since the original Kickstarter - but was very excited and inspired today having just taken delivery of some new modules! Just signed up to the forum ... this is my first post, so thought I'd post up a track I did today with my new super-charged AE! Hope you like it ... check out my other stuff on SoundCloud - Sorry, it's all a bit experimental ... not to everyone's liking! Have a great day! :-) soundcloud.com/half-unusual/half-tangible

Been using AE Modular for a while - since the original Kickstarter I was wondering where all the Kickstarters have been Thanks for joining the forum and congrats on a great track! I would love to hear more of your experimental stuff, it's a great inspiration for when I'm "in a rut" and looking for different ways to approach my system.

Thank you! I've been playing with the new Grains module again this morning - uploading my own samples. It adds a great quality to the sound and relatively easy to do - the time and function limitations are also a creative inspiration. What started off as some recordings of my bass transformed into something quite extraordinary (and a bit bizarre). The module also makes some lovely glitching sounds as it's being uploaded to ... here's the outcome of that playtime: soundcloud.com/half-unusual/half-notThere was me wondering what to do with this couple of days off work!!

This one uses the Talko_Counter program (from the Ginkosyntese collection of examples) in the Grains module to mess with snippets of robot voices counting: soundcloud.com/half-unusual/half-count

Thanks! I've been fighting with a new video setup ... here is a maiden-voyage mini performance on AEM: Unfortunately, the video setup edited the ending (!) when the screensaver kicked in The full performance is on SoundCloud, though, as audio only: soundcloud.com/half-unusual/half-performedEnjoy!

Fighting the video setup is so true. It really is a chore to record video AND audio. But it's well worth the extra trouble. Modular is an instrument that needs to be watched! Thanks for going through the trouble on this interesting patch!

For over a year I have recorded all my videos with just my mobile phone and a cheap audio interface connected via USB directly to the phone. That worked great with my iPhone and also with my new Samsung phone ... until Samsung upgraded to Android 10 and suddenly the USB audio recording stopped working Now I'm recording video with my phone and the audio via Audacity on the PC. It's a bit more work syncing video to audio in the video editor, but I'm getting used to it now. Here is a tutorial video that I made not long ago where I'm describing the various audio interfaces that I've worked with:

Syncing the sound and the video was a chore for me as well, but it’s true, you get used to it... and you start to care less about getting it perfect 😅

What helps is if your audio recorder can record a mic track in addition to your synth audio. My Zoom R16 for example has a built-in mic (two actually). Whenever I record a video for YouTube, my camera records the room audio from its internal mic into the video file and my Zoom R16 records on additional track with its internal mic's room audio as well. At the beginning or end of the video I clap my hands a few times, which creates strong spikes in the room audio.
In my editing app, I can then simply align the spikes of the video's room audio and my Zoom's room audio and that's it. Of course those audio tracks are then discarded.

Thanks so much everyone for the helpful tips! I used an iPhone for the video and recorded the AEM output on a Zoom multitrack - then aligned the audio with the mic recording from the iPhone (which I only used as a guide). Think it works! :-) Looking forward to doing more! Cheers for now :-) p.s. just realised it's MUCH better on headphones ...

Swasome!
I am starting to realize that one can never have too many sequencers! I am tempted to get another Seq16 but am also thinking of DIYing something. I have a Korg SQ1 but it is very heavy after using AE modules and I am tempted to take to it with a Dremel to transform it into a AE module (from experience, as soon as you irretrievably modify an old device, you suddenly find out the original is now very valuable on EBay!)

I‘d DIY a sequencer from scratch, rodney. It’s so easy and there are lots of circuits out there. In fact, just take a 4017 decade counter IC and wire 8 pots to it, or use the 4051 binary to octal switch, which is already becoming popular around here

Hi Everyone, Just released another video ... this one's hand held and uses a bit of (simple/bad) editing! Hope you like it! :-)

Stay safe, Darren Wow! Those are sweet grooves and nicely experimental percussion sounds! Well done!!! By the way: for better visibility on YouTube, it helps to create more meaningful video titles. A creative, abstract title is fine, but I would also include some terms that people actually search for. For example “halF sigN - AE Modular Percussion Performance” or something along those lines. You’ll probably come up with something better People do search for “AE Modular” on YouTube, as well as terms like “modular synth performance”, “synth jam” and product names like “MI Grids”, etc.

Thanks! Thanks for the heads up NightMachines - I'm a bit rubbish at that sort of stuff, so that's really helpful. I've updated and your suggestion strikes me as perfect! Thanks again :-)
