Astute observers will notice that I've been absent from the forum for a hot minute...
So, what's been going on? Well, the studio build here is now in full swing. There's a 48-frame Soundcraft FIVE in here now, which required special movers to drag its nearly 400 lb bulk into place on the new studio furniture. And yes, that furniture, too...industrial-grade Benchpro Dewey stuff, rated for 5000 lbs on each frame. The processor wall (108 total rackspaces) is populated now, and I'm typing this nonsense on the 2-track machine, now in its permanent position to the right of the console, with the processing/insert patchbay and a bigass Altec mains monitor (a 9830, if I remember right...something like a "poor man's Westlake BBSM10") on top right next to this.
So with this about halfway set up now, I'll be plunging into getting the keyboards, multitrack workstation, modular "sandbox", and test gear rig in place over the next week-ish, mainly depending on when I can get some extra hands to move the CS-80 and Ace Tone DT-7 around. Then the REAL TERROR of power-up testing, making sure that I specced the right amount of amperage for this mess...that starts immediately after that, once I have all of the power connections done.
Where does my big AE system, Gargantua, go? The "sandbox"...sort of an open environment for things that need patching. Stand's assembled, TEK power supply's ready, now to just get that section put together over the next week or so. But the sandbox will also have its own sub-patching, effects processing, and a MOTU interface for use with Ableton CV Tools and so on. Fun stuff.
This thing has been a hellacious slog, but it's super-close now. And I can get back online at last without using the horrid Android tablet (which is REALLY just supposed to be a reconfigurable remote for Ableton's transport controls to minimize leaping around the studio at the beginning/ending of takes). But even moreso, I'm now ready for Gargantua to show up...can't wait!
