Here's a dirty jam session with my AE Modular and the new MULTIFX module's Ring Crush Reverb. There's also an unreleased module in there, which I hope will be announced soon, after Robert is back from vacation

I think im going to have to adjust my order robertlanger (especially if if this is algodrone, which seemed quite close to being ready!) a question NightMachines, I noticed you tend to use the 4IO for audio output rather than the master module... is this for a particular reason?

(especially if if this is algodrone, which seemed quite close to being ready!) Nope, it's not the AlgoDrone I noticed you tend to use the 4IO for audio output rather than the master module... is this for a particular reason? My Zoom R16 recorder is to the right of the AE Modular rack, so I use the 4I/O, which is on the right as well. It's also somewhat of a Eurorack habit of mine, to put mixers or output modules to the right in my modular cases.

doh, but Im sure I still need it ah, Id guessed something like that might be the case... I thought the same about the output module, as I tend to work left to right, so you end up with the audio output at the right, then have to use a long cable back to the master module. so, recently I re-organised the rack, and put the mixers in the middle (and left side = audio: oscillators/filters, right = modulators : env/lfo), so that had less distance to wire audio to the master module. (*) but perhaps I should embrace this more, and make the rack work right to left - will challenge my brain a bit (*) cant remember how the rack was organised when it was shipped, as I reorganised the whole rack within days of it arriving.

I used to think a lot about module placement in my racks, back when I started with modulars. But due to my ever-changing module combinations I never got it "perfect", so I stopped bothering too much about it and just got more/longer cables. Haha! The only things that stuck were external audio/MIDI/CV inputs somewhere on the left and audio outputs on the right.

I'm quite boring and lay mine out pretty much like a normal synth - i.e. L to R VCOs, mixer, Filter, Envelopes, Amp, I just find it easier to keep track of what's going on, and uses shorter wires for "normal" patching. The LFOs get dotted in though. :-)
