Anyone got any of the 3 new drum modules yet (Topograf, Drumkit 010, Kick). How are they, any opinions?

I have the KICK module, and I really enjoy it. It has a very nice range of sounds. I especially love the fatness you can have.

I own all three and like them, but I mostly play my drums in live. Topograf feels a bit like cheating for me if used for the whole drumset, but it's really good to trigger rhythmic stuff, not only kick and drums. It has this nice euclidean mode too. Cool stuff possible with the cv in. It's also fun to use if you want to jam along without any other gear in combination with the other two of course.
Drumkit 10: could have some more samples or the option to load some in but it's good. I use it more often than the kick. I like the lofi sound.
Kick: It's a kick? Didn't use it enough to say a lot.

Well, I got the modules you're asking about today, but I have yet to receive all the other ones so I have no idea... But I will soon!

I've ordered the Kick & Topograph, my thought is to do the snare with the AE itself, and should have enough modules to do the bass as well - seriously looking forward to that. I'm thinking weird bass lines coming from one of the Topograph triggers. :-)
I'll report back one day, although been really rubbish at spending time in the studio this summer to give more feedback to this forum, (or complete songs).

Much delayed due to house moving during Covid.... The Topograph module is brilliant; my favourite thing to do with it is the BD (kick module) on the main, usually 4/4 trigger than the other 2 trigger sequence module(s) - can be the bass line, weird percussion or anything else basically! using it to trigger steps in sequencer modules stops it "just" being a trigger generator, as the sequencer can generate a different CV with each step, I like this to adjust the filter frequency and/or resonance, or noise level on a snare drum type sound and so on; the fact the trigger paths on the Topograph can be anything from off to absolutely manic means you can get some great syncopations going, hours of fun which hasn't translated into writing a new song (yet!). The Kick Module I have been slightly disappointed to be honest, lacking bottom end for my taste but have got around this using one of the filters, or the Lopag module, so does get used.

Weird I found the total opposite. It's the punch I'm missing. I mostly use it to add bottom and tail to an other kick. Otherwise it get lost in the mix. Gotta check this next time I'll patch...

I think the early modules are slightly different to the current ones, not 100% sure but think I read that on the forum/ Robert's Blog or something.

Just thought as well, Analogue drums rarely have Punch, we are all so used to samples now but this was what machine generated drums were like for years! Why the Linn LM-1 was a game changer.... It was this softer sound I was after and I, liek you sometimes combine it to add a bit more "meat" to light percussion. My Kick module just doesn't go very low compared to some of my synths etc...

Definitely not complaining. Loving both the drum and the kick modules! But nice to see how people react to the same gear in different ways!

I've been experiimenting lately with putting the drum and kick modules through a compressor. IMO it's a night and day difference and adds a pleasing snap and punch to the sound. While I was googling I came across a bit of kit which I thought was perfect for this purpose. I've already got a reasonable compressor but if I didn't I would be getting one of these as a number one priority for my AEM drum modules (I'm not affiliated to Dreadbox in any way).

Nice. Enveloppe follower and compressor have been on Ae format wish list for long...
Maybe one day...
