This may be old news, but just in case here's a link that takes you to to an interesting, and rather well done, resource from Ableton that allows you play with some simple synth concepts live in your browser. Have fun

Funny thing! thank you for sharing this I wasn't aware such thing existed.
Makes me wonder, on the first page with the big square thing to move. Is ther any kind of controller of that sort? where you can map X & Y axis ? Then I guess with the right moduels it could be used with the AE Modular.

Touchpad controllers? Yep, they exist. Probably the most ubiquitous would be the one on the Moog Voyager (and now on the Moog One), but Eurorack has a few as well: Soundmachines' LP1 Lightpad and Arches (whenever it comes out), Intellijel's Tetrapad, HackMe's Vector, LZX's Escher Sketch are all examples of that. Some of these also react to proximity as well, giving you a Z-axis for another control dimension.
If the AE ever got something along those lines, it would be even more interesting if this had some functions in common with the Ladik Joystick Maths module, which gives you arithmetical CV functions for X-Y movement that go a bit beyond what normal joystick CV outs can do.
