My AE Modular system arrived and I was eager to connect it to my Eurorack System. A months ago I already spend time with Robert to join my Mother-32 with his AE Modular System. In my Eurorack system I use ALM Busy Circuits - S.B.G (http://busycircuits.com/alm006/) to get from and into the Eurorack, all without issues. Routing AE Modular into my ES-8 allows me for example to use VCV Rack. Beside the smaller size of the cables and modules I do see AE Modular as an extension to my Hybrid system.  |

Thorsten Meyer hey, your tastes look quite similar to mine  this is the setup Ive been rocking for the last fews days... in prep for something.  I recognise many see AE modular as an alternative to Eurorack (and it is), but Ive grown to see it as complimentary, and really enjoy mixing the two systems. very much a hybrid system ... analog sounds coming from AE, and digital/physical modelling/granular from Eurorack. but they play nicely, Here I have the Madrona Labs Soundplane (at front) which i use to play the AE modular. this works by Bela Salt(Eurorack) talking to Soundplane sending CV to AE via the 4IO. (Im already using the master CV for sequencing from the Pyramid).
AE audio, I take to the a MI Veils, which can amplify (and mix) the AE line level up to modular, where it then gets thrown around the rack.

how do you use and control it?

I use AE as the main drum part, use the excellent sequencer to "play" along with Metropolis, main clock comes from Eurorack (many times master is PAM or Marbles). Also the effects you can generate and available Filter in AE Modular are excellent companions. Giving it a second though the correct answer is: like any other module or semi-modular synth it is always part of an unlimited patch up. |
