It's now multiple times that the 555 VCO tracking has gone bad after a trip (on a train, in an airplane, etc.). I am pretty sure I know what the issue is. It's a theory, but it's a good one.
The tracking and high-pitch adjustment trimpots are located in a very bad spot. They are right next to the ribbon cable connector. When you screw the module in, the ribbon cable is folded or otherwise pressed up against the trimpots. Significant movement of the case will cause it to rub against the trimpots and turn them.
I would like to recommend that in a future version of the VCO all the trimpots be moved well away from the ribbon cable region. And it'd be nice if they were all labeled as well.

Aha, interesting!
It explains why I have not noticed this behaviour, even though i've took my rack to Berlin & back on the train: I'm using the quickswap case, so no ribbon cable involved.
Thanks for your tip, we'll def take this with us for the next iteration!
