Hi all! We had our meet up and I talked about trying to control my rack via my guitar. So here's my setup and how I'm trying to do things (right now) and what else I might try to implement. I've been using my Strandberg with Cycfi pickups, which are per-string pickups and allows for sending each signal independently. Additionally, each knob and the switch also sends out a 0-5v signal too. So I have 8 for each string, 1 for the neck pickup, 2 knobs, and 1 switch to work with straight from the guitar's break-out box. The break-out box has a 13-pin output that makes it play nice with Roland guitar processors, and I have a Roland GR-33. This does have a pitch to midi converter, which goes through a CV.OCD midi to CV converter. So ultimately I have the following signals to play with: - Per string output (x8) (only using the top 4 strings now)
- Neck pickup output (not used)
- Knobs outputting 0-5v (x2) (not used)
- 1 switch that outputs 3 separate CV values (not used)
- MIDI from the GR-33 (going to the CV.OCD)
- CV from CV.OCD (x4)
- Gates from CV.OCD (x4)
What I have been doing is having the MIDI go out to the CV.OCD to then generate a round-robin 4 voice CV/gate combo. I then take the top 4 strings and fed that into the 4x4 switch matrix that then outputs to my pair of envelope generators. This then controls the gates for sequencers and other modules. Here's an early example. I did stereo splitting, so the left is the synth and the right is the guitar signal.

That is one sexy guitar. I have been talking myself out of buying another strandberg, currently owning a 6 string, for a while now but I’m afraid that one day I’ll give in an get an 8 string as well. Very interesting patch.
