Do the +5v dip switches must be set to off when connecting two racks that have their own power supply i.e. don't share a power supply? If not can this cause damage?

Hiya, the racks need to be connected via + & - for patching to work between the otherwise separate racks, that is my understanding and why the racklink is so useful. Does anyone patch 2 separate AE systems together?, to my mind it shouldn't work as you are not complete a circuit!

I'm not sure but my answer Is this One:
If you power with different +5V two cases without connect them with the same GROUND, they won't work.
If you connect the two grounds of your two different power supplies, all modules work fine, I think, but the MASTER module maybe could suffer about the presence of the other power supply. I remember I read annold thread here about this... Don't find the right link...
Maybe someone more Expert can confirm or modify the answer.
