How do you connect this case to an existing AE modular setup? I.E you have to share a common ground to be able to patch signals from one rack into another no?

Yes, you have to run a 3.5mm cable between the two racks. I would route the audio out from the V7 into Master I/O audio in on the bigger rack and add it to the mix there. Or ... if you don't want to export audio from the V7 but use its modules for modulation, then still just connect the two cases via a stereo cable to share ground.

oh I thought the only option was to power the V7 by the same power supply to the Main rack with a splitter cable etc without using a 3.5mm cable connecting the 2.
So to clarify does this mean you can power the V7 by a separate power supply than for the Main rack and then just connect the 2 racks via a 3.5mm cable anywhere? eg the OUT2 of the V7 into the say the 4I/O or the Master CTL I/O. Do you need to then patch to ground in the Master or does it just take care of itself.

The importance is to have a shared ground, either by being connected to the same power supply or by being connected via a 3.5mm stereo cable.

You don't need a separate power supply; alterantively, you can split the 9V from the wall adapter via the power splitter and -extender cables and power both cases from one wall adapter. As long as the sum of modules doesn't draw too much current of course. VOLTAGE TESTER is your friend if you have a lot of modules and/or power eaters like CIRRUS, RAINS, WAVETABLES ;-)
