Can I just check - the shifted bits are triggers rather than gates? I ask as one could make a(nother) lovely sequencer out of the gates into a mixer.
Feature creep alter: Don't suppose there's any way it could be switchable between the two?

The bits of course shift around (so on each clock, bit 0 goes to bit 1, 1-2 etc.), so keeping them active for longer doesn’t really fit. However, if there was some kind of pulse-extender (or 8) then each bit-out could be extended to get the effect of longer, overlapping gates. i think 😁

Yes, that’s right — maybe I misunderstood the original proposal 😁 If there is no clock pulse, then the bits won’t shift, and the state will not change…

The cgs/metalbox gated comparator worked this way, and had attenuators on each of the outputs that were then mixed to make another sequence. The Klee is similar in approach too I think. Anyhow - that would make a very cool expander for it, though imagine it would need to be 2 wide. Food for thought though...

Congratulation on underbidding even the fair prices of Bastl ;-) I do worry about that kind of stuff — I’m expecting that I’m not actually undercutting them because mine isn’t battery powered and really needs an AE Modular to plug into. Or maybe I’ve underpriced? This I suppose is a genuine question: are the wonkystuff modules too cheap??? (Or too expensive I guess 🤔)

I was wondering about the same: They have standalone units, not only with battery sockets, but also USB power and audio output jacks, plus the whole case. AND, they did have to put in more effort in R&D for the software part?
I don't know what the exact cost is in producing small batches of modules, but my expectation is that 3rd party vendors basically create modules they want for themselves and making a batch of 20-50 which are then sold off is a good way of offsetting the production cost, but not really a significant source of income.

There's an ethical line I think here, and it's something that I keep wondering about (and which has preventing me from making some modules, even though they could be interesting to have — e.g. Rob Hordijk's works — because of the 'No Commercial Usage' caveat). In the case of the Kastle modules, I did contect Vaclav et.al. before making them to see if I should pay them a license fee or some such thing. The response was: - Thanks for reaching out and sharing your ideas with us.
All our or devices are released under the CC-BY-SA publish and we just ask for attribution and that projects remain open source. No need for royalties.

(And I've had some really good chats directly with them at the past two Superbooths, showing them the AE version, and they were not upset by it!) So there is now the wonkystuff github fork with the changes, I have made, and I (usually) remember to attribute Bastl (I did forget on a recent Instagram post, but after a reminder, I amended it!).

Sweet! I've been wanting a second RBSS. I still have my original where you had to solder an extra capacitor on the back. The extra triggers will be nice.

I think with the names of the (clone) modules directly derived from the originals there is no confusion about the origin of the designs etc. I'm thinking about getting the Kastle ARP, but wondered whether it wouldn't be nice as a standalone synth as well. Would I still be able to cross-patch between a stand-alone Kastl and my AEM, assuming that a common ground is provided by an audio connection?

Thanks, good to know. I only got the idea because I saw that Bastl did some DIY workshops during Superbooth last year, and this might be fun to do with my daughter. (Sorry for getting off topic.)
