How about Samplyr? I just got it, and although I hardly had any time yet to explore it, I find it a really awesome module. Its sound is definitely amazing! However, if I'm honest I probably wouldn't have bought it if I knew how tiny the display is. There is a limit to what is still considered workable and for me, the limit is definitely crossed here.
The included magnifying glass doesn't really help because it distorts the vision a lot.
My eyes aren't the best so maybe it's just me, but I'm curious what other Samplyr users' thoughts are. If the module would have been 2U, the display could be way bigger, 4 times bigger would really help (this would double both the horizontal and vertical distance). Of course I realize costs are a pretty important factor, but yeah, it would be great if the display is actually readable. I would definitely be willing to pay a bit more for a v2 with bigger display.
By the way, why is it called Samplyr and not Sampler?

I have removed the red film to expose the very sharp and clear OLED display. Just remove the knobs, unscrew the top plate of the module and then you can lift off the red sheet covering the display.
It is much easier to read without the red film.

Thanks, I will consider it. However, as the text size won't increase and I suspect the display will become a bit more fragile, I'm not convinced it will help a lot. Appreciate the advice though!

- I would like to see some better filters. The Wasp Filter is, well, a Wasp filter, weird and squelchy and always highly resonant even with resonance = 0.
What happens if you fully open the resonance? I just got my Wasp filter and when I do this, the audio actually silences. Just checking whether this is the intended behavior. I'm used to a level drop with some filters when cranking the resonance, but never had a situation where the audio actually totally silences. If anything, I would expect at least a resonant tone on the cutoff frequency. Not a too big deal for me but I thought I'd mention it nevertheless. It sure sounds great though! I also have the Nyle filter, to be honest that one was quite disappointing because it does nothing in the first half of the cutoff range. Also the resonance is quite hard to dose because it is mostly an all or nothing situation; there is not really a setting between not audible and self oscillating. I hope I don't sound too negative, I'm just pointing out those things because it might be useful when focusing on improvements

That is exactly what I did with my Doepfer wasp That one actually doesn't have a level drop.

I cut a piece of transparent film and glued it in place instead of the red film (maybe from a clear panel from food packaging? Some is quite thick) so I still have as much protection as the red film provides

Lol, that is creative How did it improve readability though?

Lol, that is creative How did it improve readability though? Unfortunately I've not had much of a chance to play with it yet — time is currently evaporating (I'd like to load my own samples on there, but I am concerned about my mac leaving unwanted files on the SD card and causing problems!)

I'm hoping I'll finally have some time this weekend to experiment some more with Samplyr cards and my Mac. It would be nice to find a way to get this working without, say, having to run a Linux or Windows VM to manage files.

By the way, why is it called Samplyr and not Sampler? i think it’s a conflation ( contraction?) of SAMple PLaYeR. as an indicator that it DOESN’T have sampling input and is meant as a player only .. personally i think of it as a Tape (Loop) Player .. and some of the unique functionality ( pause cv , long audio file play etc ) points in that direction.. and BEYOND!!,!,!

I'm hoping I'll finally have some time this weekend to experiment some more with Samplyr cards and my Mac. It would be nice to find a way to get this working without, say, having to run a Linux or Windows VM to manage files. So I spent some more time on this this weekend and yeah ... the Samplyr module will not load a card that has those stupid MacOS files on it. BUT I spent the money and bought USBCleaner (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/usbclean/id907406031) and that actually worked! My process: - format SD card using MacOS disk utility to MS-DOS FAT - copy all prepared folders and files to it in one go - move the card icon from the Finder to the USBClean window (which removes all the system files and then immediately unmounts the drive) - put it into the SAMPLYR ... (I had to do a few iterations of injecting/ejecting until SAMPLYR properly started computing the waveforms) Now it works. Bummer that you have to pay $5 to just get rid of those system files, but that's the Apple ecosystem for you

Prepare the whole directory structure for samplyr with all samples and subdirectories on the harddrive. Format sd card to FAT using the diskutility. Copy whole directory structure to the formatted card. Eject card. Works like a charm on my MacBook. So yes, I don’t understand what I’m doing right for it to work.

I feel like it would be pretty trivial to make a file manager app that handles drive format, conversion to ulaw, file transfer, and drive cleaning. Too bad I'm busy making a new module. 😜

Too bad I'm busy making a new module. 😜 HEY! never mind new modules !! what about the 12x Mu Module flush top fitting attachment for 12 row KwikSwapp cases!! ) ( or a 12 row with the extra mu row already built in ) i know that sounds a bit negative but to be completely honest the new Kwikswapp mu base plate isn’t really floating my boat ,, relinquishing 2 units to only gain 1.333 units of Mu space doesn’t suit my pedantically frugal mindset .. hashtag “retroactive design compromise” though, of course, i DO understand the tech reasons why the new base plate is as it is .. it just hasn’t solved the problem for me and I SOOOOO want to jump on board the Kwikswapp hovercraft.. and i mean Desperately... p.s. Euclid power fix arrived safe , soldering day approaches.

What I'd like is a way to edit the config files from a computer so I don't have to, say, change the loop settings for a bunch of files at once using the teensy lil screen...
