Robert brought some samples of a potential new generation of AE Modular patch cables to Superbooth. They’re made from silicone instead of the plasticy rubber outside and have new tips too, which fit nicely tight into the sockets. The silicone also makes them super flexible and soft, which means they’ll not push or pull on their pins while in the sockets. Patching them felt great and I made this little video of them wiggling around, while I was on the train back home today http://instagram.com/p/BxW6hTWoOMa Hope Robert finds a way to mass produce them soon!

They look promissing! Are they equaly compatibile with two kinds of sockest (old and new)? Yes they are. They fit quite nicely in both types. Please be patient though ... Robert has been hand soldering those few prototypes and still needs to find a way to mass produce them to get the price to an acceptable level. But this is definitely a priority over the coming months.

lol, gives a new definition for modular wiggling I've no big issue with the current ones, so not rush... but yeah, these are a real step up - they feel great to wiggle , and a really nice positive feel when you insert them. we also have all those new modules to look forward to too.. busy times at TW HQ

Most funky - I could use that rhythm for one of my sequences. I agree with thetechnobear , times are busy and very exciting. I look forward to my second expansion and I can feel that it's going to be a decent one as I've been using what I have and I know where I would like some duplicates. Also looking forward to getting my head around better integration with some of my existing equipment, even if it's just the audio side, although the CV aspect would be interesting as well. So at least one 4IO is going in next time. Busy and exciting times indeed.

Robert showed me the new cables on the Superbooth. I think she's really good! Handy and the plugs hold optimally. And they look very noble and high quality. I am happy when they are available.

I've received some recently ordered modules with sample pack of new generation patch cables (thank You robertlanger) - they're great! Much improvement. I have standard cables, (I have never used second generation wires) and there were some minor issues from time to time with some of the loose sockets or accidently pulled out wires but these new patch cables seem to resolve the problem completely. They fit nice with the old and new sockets as well. they're thick enough to eliminate loose sockets problem and sit firm enough to not be pulled out by accident. The improvement is even bigger with the old sockets, the new one were pretty stable even with the standard wires. The wiggling abbility is a nice feature too

My modules are a mixture of the old and new socket types and some of the older ones do suffer a bit, so these may be really handy when available. I have learned where not to waft my hand if I'm recording something.

Excuse my ignorance here (yes newbie and first post).
Will these be replacing the currently sent patch cables or will they only be offered as an accessory ?

I can't speak for Robert, but I would imagine that they would have to replace the old cables but maybe with a slightly increased price. Once you have used the new cables you don't want to touch the old ones again ... ever.

Once you have used the new cables you don't want to touch the old ones again ... ever. Yeau... to be honest, it's the current patch cables (and most all breadboard types) that get me frustrated. I've got a few Werkstatt's and a few Bastil Kastle's that i love to play with.... but my fingers are not nimble enough to get the thin cables to go in easily.
So I agree with you in that form of marketing evolution.
