Hello,
I was wondering what could be a good group of modules to go with Rains in a VCASE-7 ?
As a side question, does the basic power module have the same functions as the
one on the VCASE-7 ?

have a look at this video for some inspiration for rains in the vcase-7
The vcase power module is pretty much like the normal one but it has two stereo jacks, which means that you can put in cv/gate into one of them if you use a splitter cable and still get a stereo signal out.

well I’ve ordered another Rains to go in a Vcase-7 .. most likely with a SAMPLYR , Modulators ( ALWAYS modulators - its 4 essential modules in one, the small cases BFF! :] ) .. also i would recommend a uBASE plate so you can get 3 other ‘interesting’ functions in one module spot ... i’m surprised at least one of the base Vcase-7 configs doesn’t have one in! for instance with a uSIGAMP connected through one of the mults on another module you’ve got yrself a very useful 2 channel mixer in 1/3 of the space AND with some nice ‘analogy’ distortion if you like.. OR can be used as a little feedback oscillator ( see vid Carsten posted above ) still 2 tiny uMODULE spots left for ,,er,,, maybe a uLOGIC for odd digital ‘ring mod’ stuff ( not quite a real am/rm but certainly strange ) and maybe one of the weird uTHINGS WONKYSTUFF has coming up ...? also worth mentioning the WONKY kaestle variations , as you get quite a few usable module functions grouped in a 2u space ie: random Rungler/seq pattern generator, 6 types of synth oscillator on the normal Kaestle - 2 at one time, clock, pulse & triangle LFOs, GRND & +5v outs ( which the vCase-7 doesn’t have. etc.. not to mention those functions work together in many weird musical ways PLUS can obvioulsy be patched out to control/effect any other modules in yr tiny case. the Kaestle Drum would be amazing with a Rains module. But then again my way is NOT a cheap way to go for a tiny synth!! but it will be the same size as a Volca Modular but 10 times as deadly!! ;-) |

I was thinking Rains, Modulators and Phaser. Then I would have two spaces left. How would I trigger SAMPLYR? I am very new to this.

to trigger samplyr you will need something that can generate gates and cvs for pitch and start/end . If you only have 2 units left I would go for the seq8 sequencer.
