The core of my studio is an MPC2500; I've discovered the AE modular doesn't like its midi very much, appears not to recognise the gate off for notes although gets the pitch and clock fine. I have been running it through an Arturia Beatstep Pro which works fine, until I set the MPC as the master clock to the Beatstep! The same is true for the Keystep.... The AE Modular does work fine if controlled via CV/Gate so it must be to do with the Midi....
The only thought I've had but yet to try is that I have another piece of gear be the master clock to the MPC and the AE Modular, see if that fixes it. Has anyone any other thoughts, or solved the problem?

Hi, I don't own an MPC but I do own an Arturia Keystep and have no problems connecting it to the AE via MIDI. I get clock, start, stop, note and gate from the Keystep just fine. But of course that means that the Keystep is the master clock.
Apparently MIDI is always a bit tricky in that some implementations differ slightly from others especially with the timing.

Midi and cv both works.

poldo you by any chance have the first version master module?? I ask because that one did have problems recognising note off midi.. rev2 and upwards don’t exhibit this problem.. though of course it could be some other incompatibility at work.. but thought it is worth checking.
