Got my Vcase, filled it up, finally updated my Cirrus and now finally starting to really grasp it as well.. For this track I layered 6 recorded loops from the Vcase, and i'm fading them in and out with the C&G Five Moons recorder. Little bit of boosting, saturation, EQ & Compression in Ableton. Big shoutout to rockysmalls for his incredible Cirrus manual PDF, title is also a shoutout to your AEtherwaves track

Wow this 5 moons is something else, does it record loops of different lengths, or are they synced in length? Apparently they have an upgrade so it does stereo tracks now.

Wow this 5 moons is something else, does it record loops of different lengths, or are they synced in length? Apparently they have an upgrade so it does stereo tracks now. Different lengths! And the stereo upgrade takes it to another level I think it pairs very well with AE Modular and specifically a small case like the Vcase. I just have an aux cable running from the headphone stereo out of AE to Five Moons, and thats it. Power bank to connect the two and its a very compact setup. I like the immediacy of the Five Moons. Price is a bit steep for the 'low functionality' compared to eg Zoom recorders, but it feels really more of an instrument than a recording tool to me. Instant looping/recording with a button press, nice faders to explore the recorded sounds, and the 'bounce down' option to record combinations as new tracks with fader movements.

Maybe a good tool for going DAWless ?

Shoutout acknowledged , Saluté! but of course i only collated that manual out of irritation that the info for the various superparasites modes were all over the place and needed herding & attaching to the original info ,, and threw in a few observations from my own head scratching and fumbling attempts to fathom all those juicy modes out ... it’s an incredible collection of functions ,, even for those restricted to only the first 4 in the new ‘classic’ .. probably helps with decision making even! the 5moons looks very tempting , sizewise as well as aesthetically , but I don’t think I could cope with the fact that the recordings can’t be pitched up or down , I totally get this workflow , usually using 3 stereo loopers that aren’t too restricted in length of recording , one of which (ehx) will freewheel the pitch a good number of octaves up or down and the other 2 cheapo ones ( Nux & Ammoon ) will at least do half speed or double speed , the Zoia ( & euroburo version ) has a (beta) sampler/loop module in it now with a 10 minute limit , but I think 5 of them running might be a bit over the dsp limit, 3 is probably the best if you want some other fx modules or lfo things happening as well.. if the Critter & G people crack open the speed issue it’ll really be a contender for me . have there been any rumblings about this on their forum? Any Road... you haven’t revealed yr Vcase-7 config !! go on show us yr VolcAE!

rockysmalls this is the current VolcAE setup, and the one which i settled on the last few days. The micromodule row is fantastic to do some quick swapping and make it so much more versatile. Just missing envelopes in this setup (i basically use the ones which come with the Cirrus for plucky sounds). Micro envelope would be great. But enough workarounds to be found! Also no filter in this one, but like you showcased at superbooth, the Tone micromodule can def act as a good filter (and i heard that about the wonky BD as well ) For the 5 Moons, pitch shifting has been requested quite a bit on the forum, and i think it would be very neat indeed. Not sure how realistic it is programming-wise. But I'm having high hopes since they added stereo out of the blue!

keurslagerkurt lovely! yeah the interchangability of the micros makes all the difference.. [until Kyaas hot swap cases become a reality ] my little battery & cables box has a row of 6 ready to swap out too. but it’s suddenly occurred to me that we could do with some kind of 3d printed backplate/protection/holder thing to 1) hold them together neatly when not ‘in play’ & 2) protect the all important bus pins .. just some kind of soft flat stick with the six holes for each u-module in the correct place , maybe a more sizable chunk of that pink foam would do it or something firmer? wow! i didn’t realize the 5moons matched the size/height of AE so well!! if that pitch/speed mode becomes a reality i could well be sold .. i know C&G are pretty good at keeping dev up on their stuff.. i’m guessing ‘automation/recording of the volume sliders is a common ask on the forum too? , even with the ‘bounce’ sort of being the smart workaround for that..

5moons is basically a unix box running a puredata patch so I'm really excited to see what more will come out of this little box.
