Is it the absence of intent? This abstract notion of creativity that is not reproduceable without human interference? Every artistic endeavour of AI suffers from this uncanny valley syndrome. It looks and sounds human made but there is something that is off. This does of course not mean that the AI produced result can not act like a source of inspiration and or further human elaboration. Personally I’m not holding my breath for an improvising AI in a jazz setting because the improvised aspect of jazz that appeals to me is the fact that it’s human made in the moment. No machine will do that.
