You can only receive midi on one channel at a time per master module. The MASTER module only support channels 1, 14, 15, or 16. Why do you want to go via midi? Does the keystep not have separate cv and gate outputs per channel?

If you just need Four gate triggers out of the keystep pro, into the AE, the 4I/O module should be enough.

or use the connectors on the Master module (not the MIDI one).
