Hi! unfortunately I just realized that my MM DIVIDER has broken. They turned on all the division leds at the same time and then they didn't turn on again. I bought it a little over a month ago, and shipping took a long time. I tried other power cables and it doesn't work, I just noticed that the chip (I think the multiplexer) gets very hot. Any idea what it could be? I live in Latin America and thinking about sending it for repair is quite an odyssey! I know how to weld, if there is any DIY solution I would appreciate it! It worked perfectly when I bought it...it's a sad day!

Hi frndo, indeed we have a problem with one batch of the MMDIVIDER modules; the output shift register chip seems to be faulty and causes exactly this behaviour. We will send a new module out to you right away! Alternatively, you could replace the 74HC595 shift register, if you are not afraid of SMD soldering. You could do it without hesitation; we definitely don't have the "the user has disassembled the item, so warranty is void" style ;-) In any case, no worries; we will get it fixed!

The reason is in fact a faulty chip; this is a really rare case but here it's reason, almost 100% sure.

This reminds me of this video of an electronics repair guy who wabted to fix an old EHX pedal and needed a specific BBD chip for that, so he happens to have a batch of modern alternatives lying around in his parts drawer, only to discover that those were fake chips that did not even work like the chip it claimed to be. I you happen to have encountered a faulty batch of multiplexers then that's very frustrating for us end users but luckily your module design is not at fault.

Thank you very much for your answer robertlanger! Unfortunately I can't find the Chip in my country (I'll keep looking for it). I will contact you by mail / private message to see if you can send me the module. Thanks again.

Thank you! I had not seen this thread, when I bought it and the MM DIVIDER is vital in my setup!
