May I reserve/prepay a black one for the second run ? Haven’t quite decided how to sell the next round - will probably be through a third party platform like Tindie or similar. Also, it’ll be kit form rather than pre-built; although i’m open to building them for people if they really don’t have soldering confidence/equipment, at a small extra cost. In short, no need to pre-pay, but i’ll make sure one has your name on it Thanks. Very kind of you! I’m one of those guys with no tools and experience in soldering and no familiarity at all with DYI, so I’ll be even more happy if you can build it for me (at extra cost obviously) Cheers GF

Both 555 and AEuropi have upped the build quality of AE modules absolutely solid pieces of kit, many moons of experimenting ahead.

They look great next to each other with the complimentary colours! Really looking forward to receiving the 555 I do love that Harmonic LFOs script, even if i don't have the module patched in, it just looks nice!

There are some really spectacular scripts on this module. This will become my swiss army knife for the AE modular.

Here is an ihpone recording, not the best quality, of Lonely Woman ... I guess this was the first time a free jazz piece was played for an exam. The two other pieces were more conventional i.e. Art Tatum's Under a blanket of Blue and St Thomas by Sonny Rollins. Given my mindf****ng fear of playing in front of an audience it went quite well, with no real blackouts or meltdowns.

Oops I just misread this as ... by Henry Rollins and I thought how cool would be a Jazz Performance of Liar...

Almost ready.... just need Robert to get back to me about bulk pin socket orders
I'm rethinking the "no pico included" aspect...because it uses a slightly tweaked version of the europi firmware, and trying to figure out how to clearly communicate the process for setting it up using Thonny etc. It's not as if pico's are expensive or in short supply, so I might just include a pre-prepared one in the kit. It'll push the price up by about £5 i guess but i'll be more confident people are getting the best experience. The screen is the priciest bit, maybe i should have done "bring your own OLED"

Had great fun with the Hamlet script today, using it's 'synth trigger' for a voice's VCA envelope, and a 'hihatt' trigger output to control a voice's filter envelope. Tweaking the parameters to get some complex rhytmic feels going on, together with RBSS delivering it's endless sequences to the 555 😄
Filmed a bit of the mayhem while recording, so might put it online coming days.
On the preloaded Pico: as 'consumer' it's def superchill if it's 'plug and play'. Also not having to deal with the calibration was supernice. But of course it's extra work for you! (Not only 'buying the pico's' but also just calibrating everything!)

I was just reading a bit more in the Hamlet 'manual', and reflecting what makes AEuroPi so great, because both Euclid Grid and Topograph are like a 'better' version of Hamlet in the same size..
But having the AEuroPi in my small 1-row 'standalone' rack makes so much sense, as it's so easy to swap scripts depending on the situation, and it's inspiring to try random scripts! Like such a 'multi-purpose' module that is still quite easy to use (because of the OLED screen feedback), it's fantastic. Seeing the pattern on the OLED is also a great improvement over the Topograph 'blind navigation' vibes. (Although the Endless amount of great patterns in the Topograph is great in it's own right)

I'm looking forward to buying it!

Yeah options is a good idea. Frustratingly, this model of OLED is available with a couple of different pin layouts, for no particular reason so despite being pricey, it's one thing i really need to provide in the kit, to avoid confusion

For anybody wondering where to find the documentation on the different scripts installed on your AEuropi; here is the overview and script documentation.

The two other pieces were more conventional i.e. Art Tatum's Under a blanket of Blue and St Thomas by Sonny Rollins. Given my mindf****ng fear of playing in front of an audience it went quite well, with no real blackouts or meltdowns. I used to be paralysed with terror on stage. I was even scared of my clarinet teacher (well, he was a bit of a jerk actually)
One day I hear a radio interview with Yehudi Menuhin, the violinist. When asked why he wasn't terrified playing in front of so many people, he said that he is utterly terrified of performing. However, he said that he learned to treat the feeling as 'raw emotion' that he could send through his instrument and out to the audience, so it even made him play better than when he was more calm and maybe complacent.
That had a big effect on me and really changed the way I feel when I play. I still get scared but it's usually when I don't feel like I've adequately prepared. That said, wind instruments really give away a lot about your feelings compared to things that don't depend on your breath to keep a note under control!
I like your sax sound and it was a great choice of song.

It’s a shame you can’t hear more of the AE scrapes from the backing track but at least I did not butcher the piece completely. Interesting observation to treat fear as an emotion to project through your playing. However when your stage fright blocks your fine motoric skills then you’re kinda f****** when it comes to playing an instrument. But i agree if you have the conviction you prepared all you could then you will be less likely to fumble around with your fingers. But woodwinds, especially clarinets, are so much more than pushing the right buttons… your breathing and embouchure need to be controlled as well or you will honk and squeek like a colony of seagulls which is not always the desired effect.
I think the music teachers acting like jerks is becoming less and less common up to the point where teachers are almost apologizing for pointing out what the student should do to improve. This said my sister studied flute as a little girl and the teacher was one of those oldschool bullies. One day he told her that she had not practiced enough at home and therefore he would not waste his time listening to her playing, so he sent her of to another room were she had to practice on her own, which she did. But the flute jerk took in the other students and completely forgot about her so he basically left once he had seen the last student and my sister was still in the other room practicing. Luckily my mom went to pick her up at music school and found her hours later standing in that room practicing with tears rolling down her cheeks. Mind you this did not put her of from playing the flute and eventually she reached a level were she was ready for conservatorium if she had decided to proceed with a career in music, which she didn't.

Howdy all,
Just an update to say that this is now officially on sale!
There's 9 available (across both sites, so i'll be juggling stock as best I can). Interested to see which panel is most popular I hope DIY kits will be preferred by most as we're having a small heatwave in the UK and soldering isn't very appealing!!

Congratulations on the release - so far I've used only one firmware extensively and it's a thing of beauty!

Can highly recommend this module to anyone who's Looking for a fun and superflexible cv (mainly) module.
Was suprised by how much fun, and how easy it is to change scripts with it's built in menu. Beautiful module as well.

Me too.
This has so much potetial.
Also the fact that if you ca code, you can basically make your own scripts for it.
