A quick tip if you want to use Clouds as a VST Effect... Cardinal ( github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal) is virtual modular synthesizer plugin, available as CLAP, LV2, VST2 and VST3 audio plugin for FreeBSD, Linux, macOS and Windows which is based on VCV Rack. Cardinal does not connect to the VCV Rack library but has some (a lot of) instruments built-in. The AudibleInstruments instruments are also included. So you can use the Texture Syntesizer plugin as an effect: I used the "Host Params Map" module to be able to control the knobs via the Ableton parameters. You could map these parameters to a MIDI controller and record the movement of the knobs in your track. This is the Cardinal file for this effect: cardinal_clouds.vcv (1.06 KB)

As a VCV Pro user I have to say: Seems even more stable (in my case: when sequenced by Stepic in Ableton) than VCV, even with a Cardinal Synth followed by a Cardinal FX (on Mac M1).
