Seeing the new Volca-sized case, I started dreaming that maybe this would be a nice complement for a Volca Modular
Basically for travelling or live. For ambient with a slightly noisy pulse.
What does everyone think? Would you change anything?
BTW : I need to save up some more pennies before I start on this special case, but I already have the VM Bridge in my current AE and I'm already loving the possibilities of hooking Volca Mod into AE and cross patching / processing each others' sounds etc.

Only thing is it's a shame there isn't room for a filter ...

Just an idea but you could replace the 2U Kaestle Drum with a 1U core.AE running the KD firmware, that would leave space for a filter

It's a bit of a trade-off. It would be nice to have that in 1U but I suspect you'd lose some of the patchability and variation possible from the full Kaestle Drum. (I don't currently have one, just the Kastle 1.5, but AFAICT from YouTube, the Kastle Drum has a pretty wide range of variation accessible through patching. Also more knobs.)
Also, if you were to go for a 1U programmable thing, I wonder would Grains be a better option? It's not really a rhythm machine, but it could presumably be programmed to be. I'm not quite sure how the spec compares to the core. But I think it might have a slightly more powerful microcontroller in it. And I like that it has USB for programming. So a Grains plus, say, a Kuzmin filter might be pretty good too.

That's true, you'd definitely lose some of the patchability and hands on nature of the full KD module. Don't forget that the Kastle and AE use the same voltage specs and are cross-patchable, so you could even get the standalone Kastle Drum and patch it directly in. Of course, that means more stuff/less portable. But you'd save 2U in the rack!
I think grains might be a bit more powerful than core.AE, yeah, seems like it has enough oomph to do basic audio FX which I think is beyond the Core's ability.
edit to add: not sure what gear is needed to do this, but I believe you can flash the Kastle Drum firmware onto the Kastle 1.5 you already have, should you wish to!

I don't know the Cirrus module at all, but I had similar thoughts to you re a case to put with my volcas; the main different was I was thinking the Solina and a filter. Depending on which filter was selected you would still have 1 or 2 module spaces free if removed the cirrus!

I'm planning on using Cirrus, Rains and the VM Bridge, and either some type of mixer or the Modulators module, but does anyone know if there is some way to power both the Volca and the Tangible Volca size case with ONE outlet or power source? 9V adapters or something?

Yep should work here's a link to a site that sells a daisy chain for volcas kvgear.com/collections/power/products/dc5The Volca has a 1.7mm tip which is a different standard tip to the Ae. Both are centre positive. If you use a battery that has a 9v out like this it should work just make sure you order a second centre positive adapter www.thomannmusic.com/harley_benton_powerplant_powerbank.htm

I feel like i should get commission for the amount of times i've recommended MyVolts this Crazy Chain cable takes a standard 2.1mm input (for example, the regular AE plug), and has two male connections, one 1.7mm for Volca, the other 2.1mm which would fit AE. Should do the job nicely. And if you wanted to take it on the move, pairing it with their Ripcord would let you easily power them both from a battery or whatever.

I love my Cirrus but I would be able to squeeze more sonic variety/rhythm out of an algodrone and a filter like the Kuzmin, same footprint more versatility.
