Has anyone been trying the Kastle Drum in AE? I am trying the patterns out, I just got it this week, but I can't find a straight 4/4 basic beat amongst its patterns... very weird little module...
I can use the clock, but the patterns seems all in some strange tempo, accellerating, like the lfo...
I found this in the meanwhile, and sorry for posting here, I found it later there is a wonky section in the forum..
Anyway, BIT IN is an output... why it's not labeled BIT OUT ... boh... nut it's an out... goes neg as well...

My understanding of the Kastle Drum is that is more of a wild drum synthesiser than a groovebox, so suspect you won't get a "normal" 4/4 beat from it - I have the Wonkystuff module and, although not used alot, it doesn't often sound normal!

Well first, if you are doing any tempo modulation that will cause those rising tempo peaks that you're talking about. So that knob has to be all the way down. I like to use my AE system to send a pulse to the kastle drum, then I use that to reset the clock/lfo. From there, you can just mess with the kastle drum's clock rate until it's a tidy multiple of the incoming pulse. Basically until it sounds right. I've tried this sending the castle drum pulses of quarter note, half note, and whole note subdivisions. All of them work pretty well. Hope this helps!
Ps: the sync from volcas and other Korg products tends to also work very well!

Anyway, BIT IN is an output... why it's not labeled BIT OUT ... boh... nut it's an out... goes neg as well... I think Bastl themselves describe it as a 'groove discovery tool', so it's not conventionally programmable but you 'discover' beats by playing around with it! My most common use case is to patch the stepped LFO output to the drum-sound modulation input (turn left pot to max, right pot to min), turn the LFO rate to something which feels about right and then play with the FEED input (connecting to - or + outputs for example) and listening to what happens. I tend to set the decay to something short, and the pitch to minimum as well, although these can of course be modulated. If you turn the LFO rate right down and supply a clock signal to CLK IN it will step along with each received clock pulse. In this mode, the triangle and square LFO outputs will run at the slower rate, and so can be used to modulate the pitch or decay asynchronously from the 'beat' Hope it starts to make sense soon!

… and that's also reminded me that I haven't made a video demo for a year now 😢
