Hello all, this is a bit late .. but you may find a few new and interesting bits of news in this blog post from tangible waves. Also remember that today is Bandcamp Friday, a perfect time to show your appreciation for our artists by buying their albums! www.tangiblewaves.com/news/august-2022-going-solar

Nice to see the microCASE.

Awesome! Great to see Robert is looking at solar for AE

Sorry, missed this one, so started my own thread,
Basically I was concerned about the micro racks having a hole under every 1/3 module.....
Pleased maydonpoliris and I got a mention for music though - thank you!

Just reading the blog again, it says all our modules except O&C and Cirrus can be produced now - does that mean the FMOS is coming back into stock soon? (he says hopefully).....

The microcase and the solar don’t really interest me. I’m already bought into the micro panels as they are and while I think the cost is a bit high I’ve bit the bullet and won’t be going the case route. With solar i had considered usb solar panels (to use with a myvolts 9 volt center positive cable) but solar panels don’t seem very efficient currently. Kind of gimmicky. So I’m sticking with usb bricks. I am thinking of buying a solar capable usb brick though, but I hear they take a long time to charge.

i was thinking the same thing, though of course I have no idea if my preference for a 1/3rd sized strip case is practically possible with all the switches and sockets and ribbons needed in there?? I’m sure Robert can enlighten us. I was thinking i would be fine to just use the 1u baseplates for 1/2 size modules ( i think namke ‘s ‘on it’s way’ snare module will be 1/2 size ) .. and I really wanted to avoid the ‘Hinge Thing’ and just have a strip of 20 1/3rds attached directly to the top of my 2 row x 20 case ,, all nice and solid , there’s probably a diy way of doing this perhaps? what is the possibility of 1/6th sized modules to fill up those spaces? bwahahahaha! ( no... seriously all you micro engineers out there! )

the Micro:bit looks amazing for the educational scene ,,, and it’s great that it can all work from iPads & Phones!! I like the simple “blocks” coding , I presume visuellemusik has plans for it as a multi sensor thing ,, motors etc? maybe? Radio & bluetooth stuff? looking forward to seeing how that goes. I have NO guesses on that module prototype,,, but 14 knobs and NO screen! ? hmmmmmm.

Hi Matt, rockysmalls - well all what you imagine in principle is possible with the micro:bit board. But so far the intergration for AE Modular mainly is centered around CV/Gate I/O and audio out, admitedly with a few additional bells and whistles ;-) But... there also is this board available which has far more possibilities (at a much higher price as well) which is pin-compatible: learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-clue Among other stuff the CLUE has a built in display, various sensors and an I2E connector, so it could be perfect for what you are envisioning. We have not tested it yet, though. Currently I am mainly working on the Arduino C++ intergration for micro:bit and AE Modular.

Not very familiar with the Micro:bit but the format reminds me of the 'voice cards' used by Pico System 3, maybe it could do something similar?

I really like the concept of the new “microCASE” for ½ modules and ⅓ modules.
Especially to sit on top of a case-setup that already consists of two racks and a hinge-kit I find this very useful. I already considered adding one more one-row rack here, but to have a narrower case also promisses to be a more sturdy and even better accessable construction.
Also maybe, especially in combination with the solar option / battery-pack module, there additionally is potential for a full size case but with connectors for micromodules only. Apart from the "battery-pack" module of course, unless this could have an additional micro-connector for this use-case?
This way especially a 12x1 case could provide incredible functionality with a minimal footprint (even without need of those individual micro-baseplates, maybe adding a tiny bit of weight), for instance to be taken "on the road" in a backpack. Of course we then would need at least one micro-module with an audio out option and maybe a volume knob "microHeadphone"?
