Hi! I wonder if it is possible to mod the post-fader sends to pre-fader on the compact mixer? I have basic soldering skills and experience. Any ideas, suggestions and images of the PCB would be much appreciated.
Thanks! Jon

Attached you find a picture how a pre-fader FX send mod could be done. I have not tested it - so please check at own risk and first only with one channel. The picture shows the bottom side of the PCB (quite convenient, no disassembly necesary); whazt has ot be done is: 1: cut a trace going to the FX send pot(s) 2: solder a wire from the FX send pot pin to the level pot. Depending where the trace is cut, either both FX sends are pre-fader, or only FX 1 (also shown in the picture). If something is unclear, please comment. I'm curious to hear if and how it works! Thank you for the information. It was clearly explained and very helpful. I ordered the compact mixer yesterday, but I will come back here and leave feedback when the unit has arrived and the modification is tested.
Thanks again!

Could this not be made configurable with some jumpers? A good idea for version 2.0?

Hi! I have now some results from implementing the modification. First I made the mod on channel one and then tried it. Everything worked fine except that the master effect send level controls were bypassed. That does not bother me because I always forget to turn them up and find myself wondering why there is no sound. To use only the send controls on individual channels suits my workflow better, so I decided to make the mod on all six channels.
When I was done I found that channel three, four and five were dead. The other channels worked fine. I then restored the non-functioning channels to their original wiring and then they worked post-fader but without the master send controls.
So now I have channel one, two and six on pre-fader and channel two, three and four on post-fader. I don't feel adventurous enough to freestyle around with the soldering iron and try to make all channels work pre-fader. Im perfectly fine with this configuration.

A clearification. It has come to my understanding that what I in the previous post called "master effect send level controls", are actually controlling the input levels of the return inputs. I did not read the wiki/manual carefully enough, where it says "sets the overall level of inputs FX1 L/R into the Main outputs". So those controls are not sends, they are returns, and they work as intended even after the modification is implemented.

Would the layout and modification be the same for the VMIX-10 unit? Seems to me easy for implementation

Ok, tested it myself… In case of the VMIX, it works exactly as it was illustrated. My first three channels are now FX1 prefader and I am now happy with it.

Did you modify only the first three channels, or did the other channels not work pre-fader?
