Are there people here that have multiple distinct and complete AE set ups built, and being patched with multiple projects at once? I have a bit of a compulsion issue in general (I am working on it) and AE modular has been affected by that as well. I am in essence going to have multiple complete systems. This doesn’t bother me but I wonder if I’m weird or something? And I wanted to see if there are others that are the same way. My idea ultimately is to have multiple projects going at once, in different veins. One more mellow, one more aggressive, one more drone, etc.

I appreciate this attitude :-) ...no, sorry, jokes aside... It could make sense to have one rhythm oriented case, one for ambient, something like this. I must admit I was thinking about this with my own setup in mind, and it might be worth considering a setup where each case has a certain functionality, like sequencing, bass, drums, pads/drones/fx, mixing. Ok, you go one step further - having one system for each project, phew! My opinion is not super valuable because I play not that often with my own stuff (but I'm on the way to change this!), but I'm curious to hear other opinions here.

I prefer one systemn which can cosist of multiple racks, so you don't miss any possible patching combination when building new patches because that one module is built in your other system.

I like having multiple systems, but in different formats.

I was actually thinking about this recently after having a lot of fun with a 01x12 case.
Seems like it would be fun to put together a few different small single purpose racks and then combining them in different combinations and use it as an idea generation tool.

overall I prefer to stick to one system with multiple racks. With all the I/O and Mixer options those things can be separated while patching. Depending on the complexity a bit harder to do for different projects of course.
Having the different racks for different projects/genres etc but keeping them powered by the same supply, that way you can utilise a module from another rack, keeping some further patching possibilities open.

I am in the process of creating a percussion synth with a 1x16 case; the new 1/3 modules will help with that. My main AE will remain a GP machine....

I have a little case set up with the mixer modules and some stuff to patch into the FX loops from the mixer (multifx, spring reverb, a delay). It sits next to the sound-generation/sequencing rack, and I patch from the beepy side to the mix/fx side, which then has the XLR mixout stuff into the mixer. This makes sense to me and keeps mixing separate from synthing. (although there are submixers in the synthy side for I guess obvious reasons...)

I have one system per project approach as well. However, before it was only one AE modular for one project. But now with all the new stuff coming up I have enough in my left over case that it could be it's own project. So could have two case for two different projects 🤪✌️
