I had a piece of test equipment with a big knob. Now I have a big knob module. All it does is provide zero to five volts. Playing with it is too much fun.

It's how you use it that matters

Well, that's my favorite thing today.
Do you have a custom keyboard/AE case? What's up with that?

Thanks! I have a build thread for it here on DIY Building (Keyboard + Case + Pi Pico) but to summarize I harvested a keybed from a Rhodes / Roland fully weighted keyboard with busted circuit boards. It was an MK-60. A previous owner was so embarrassed by how far the Rhodes brand had fallen that they covered up the logo with duct tape. The keys have a really nice action though. So, Keybed + some aluminum L extrusions + some wood + a pi pico and I have a 64-key AE modular keyboard synthesizer! Here's the big knob in its new home: And yeah, I'll post audio soon. I promise. Eventually. For sure.

No need to buy a big knob, drill a hole in a little one, then in an L shape some small diameter steel/alloy/brass, ask your wife if you have one, glue it in, job done Cheers 'ere's the idea

I guess the tactile aspect, the sheer physical aspect of those controller makes you forget that they are basically just sending out cc values over midi. The way he triggers those drum sounds is so physical which probably adds to the heaviness there is the whole psychological aspect of having to put some effort into triggering those sounds compared to simply pushing a pad on a midi controller.
