Hey dear Synthlovers, Does anybody use a Cyrklon or a Cyrklon2.0 with his AE? I am interested in your experience with those two and the Cyrklon in general. Is it "the holy grale" of sequencing?
Greetings Phillip

Without the CV expansion it seems pretty limited in combination with the AE modular since the MIDI connectivity of the AE is, for the moment, pretty basic. That sequence better be able to make coffee as well to justify that price tag.

CV wise you'd probably be best set building/modding a cvio breakout at AE specs to harness all the CV/gate tricks.
It's a great sequencer if you are prepared to dig into the wider functions, and even if you're not it's still expansive. Whether it's 'holy grail' depends on your usage and connection to the interface I guess. For me it was a game changer/absolutely essential when I worked in a certain way*, though I haven't worked in that way for some time now...
* That way being live records of various bits of kit all playing along together, chained/controlled/sequenced by the cirklon.

Sound like the sequencer I need 😅. Maybe I will find a 5V Midi to CV converter. I am currently using the BSP. But I need more voices 😅 Thank you for your opinions!

I wondered about those midi to cv convertors, the resolution of those probably not higer than a 7 bit DAC given the fact that MIDI cc values go from 0-127, which is probably not to bad when working in AE territory where we have to map these values to the 0-5 volts range, whereas on Eurorack that resolution might be a bit too crude no?

Tend to think with the cirklon, for various reasons, the cvio is better than a bolt on midi to CV - it's all there, powered from a device that's already in use.

I have modified a few Grains firmwares to be directly MIDI-controlled (see this thread: forum.aemodular.com/thread/1900/midi-control-grains-using-library). So USB-midi controls the pitch of the oscillator and note-on/note-offs control the grains gate output so you can trigger envelopes with each note. I use a raspberry pi zero to translate from MIDI-DIN input to USB-MIDI to grains. Another option if you want to sequence AE Modular with MIDI.
