One of the soft cell guys and Chris Lowe of PSB grew up in New Castle and went to school together. They collaborated on this song which is awesome, the video is cool too. You can get it on iTunes and there will be a 12” with additional PSB remixes scheduled for November. Enjoy!

Slightly surprised Marc Almond's still alive! I think a lot of his 80s excesses were drug related though..... Sounds more PSB than Soft Cell but his vocie is still good.

Jesus man, that’s kind of cold :-) I wasn’t a Soft Cell fan before (I have been a PSB fan forever) but after hearing this song and the lyrical style I’m definitely getting the upcoming Soft Cell album. I like that he is very direct, and it seems like he’s got something to say :-)

Really surprised to see Mr. Almond is still alive, I always had a soft spot for soft cell probably due to the cover of tainted love by Coil, whereas PSB has always been that slick TOTP band that hinted Fad gadget but never delivered.

It should of said weren't drug related in his case, missed that! He was alcohol and sex, not unusual for a popstar.... Soft Cell were in the UK media a bit when they got back togather for Monoculture & album in 2000s, then basically silence.... If you want great 80s pop, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is a good place to start, if you like a more raucous sound, try The Art of Falling Apart - the latter is still one of my fav albums.

Delivered what? What were you looking for? Have you heard their albums? For me they've never disappointed, and I have no issue with their commercial success. I do admit I like Chris more than Neil--he seems more genuine or whatever. I am totally looking forward to their Unity tour with New Order. I am hoping they will do some songs together. I have tickets right in front of the stage, I usually manage a spot near the front for their shows.

Alcohol abuse is the worst. I'd say worse than any soft drug (hard drugs are a different story). Thanks for the album suggestions. I think I will get those two and the upcoming one.

This is not me hating on a band for having a commercial success far from, all respect to them for still going strong after all these years. When I'm talking about delivering it's more about scratching an itch that other synth (pop) bands like Fad Gadget and New Order managed to do whereas PSB never gave that same feeling, that's all. Different strokes for different folks and ll that jazz I guess.

New Order are giving away 2 tickets to the city of your choice for the Unity Tour (NO and PSB together!). If you want to enter to win you can do so here: fpt.fm/app/33066/neworder

I bought the new Soft Cell album and listened to it completely the other day. It’s good. The synth work is good and a bit sparse so it all breathes rather nicely. It has a good ratio of space to sound. Lyrically it is a commentary on the pitfalls and shortcomings of modern life, with different topics covered. Marc’s voice sounds pretty good too if not a bit less massive than you may know from the past, but it works with the somewhat subdued subject matters. They also use bits of samples speech in most of the songs which give further guidance and context. It’s a good album, I can recommend it.
