I would like to get your opinion on this question: Should I reuse an old thread (which is maybe 2 years old and already "abandoned") or should I create a new thread even though the topic is the same or at least similar as in old posts? For example I had a question about Topograf and I thought it might be a good idea to use the already existing [NEW] Module - TOPOFRAF thread. But today I realized that there this thing called necroposting and in some forums this is considered as bad behavior to bump an old post. I usually check if there is already an answer in the forum if I have a question. Should I create a new thread for a followup question? Or should I post in the old thread. There is probably no wrong or correct answer to my question. But as I said, I am interested in your opinion...

I always try to search for old similar thread before to create one new. If about a single module it does make it easier to found information about it in case someone went to know more bout a module. One thread to read instead of looking around in many mostly similar thread.

I don't see anything wrong with bumping an old thread if your post adds a meaningful post to the thread in question, just bumping a dead thread for the sake of bumping it is, indeed, in poor taste. But again thaose are just personal opinions, afaik there is no law against necroposting, cool term tohough.

Yeah the forum is here as a repository of information, don't hesitate to bump an old thread.

If it links to the old thread my feeling is use it. The threads for certain modules are meant to be used this way I believe (admin would have to confirm but look at the first post in each in where he says posts your questions etc. about this module here).

I agree with what's been said already ... please use, reuse and bump old threads. I chose the forum specifically for this feature over facebook or discord. This way conversations stay in one place and become a great resource of information for those who spend the time digging.

It would be even more helpful if we could search in the whole forum in one go and not need to go through every sub platform and repeat the search there.

I only see the forum as Administrator, but don't you see a "Search" menu item in the very top menu, right between "Messages" and "Grid"? This is the global search.

Thank you Carsten, for pointing that out I completely missed that search. Sorry for my brain fart.

That search is a bit like the SEQ8 mode input. indispensable once you realize it was hiding in plain view the whole time.
