Hello, As many are having interesting video of their performance. I'm just wondering if anyone else is doing live audio visualisation? With video synth, computer or lights (like CV to RGB leds modules ). I'm currently putting together an euroack system for this matter but I have already started with a simple C&G Eyesy and video mixer setup. It's mixing between the Eyese and some random loops I gathered (like 40+ hours of different VJ sets and animation I like). The Eyese receiving audio from the system and midi from NightMachines'cv to midi module. It was a first for both setup and patch so the musicality is not there at all. However, I'm really looking forward to hear if anyone is doing such thing as well! and how? Giltch art, 3 modeling, Blender or other?

I have enough problems doing live audio without adding more stuff!

I like that, nice soundtrack as well. How do you play your videoloops? Do they come from a laptop?

No it's a multimedia player stand alone. Just needs to be careful when preparing the video formats but considering the price it's pretty cool. I have around 62gb of videos in the USb key. I tried with a SD card but somehow the card wasn't quick enough and all samples over 1gb we're not playing. www.amazon.com/Media-Player-Full-HD-Digital-Drives/dp/B07D7RCBJJ

Definitely a highly interesting field! Since the beginning of AE, the possibily to generate / control visualizations is around in my head; I have collected a lot of info, schematics, code etc. for this. Great to hear others are thinking about this too ;-)

so interesting and entertaining. would love to go down this CV/video route at some stage. would be cool if CV effected the video loops as well.
Is the multimedia player (pretty affordable by the way) doing the mixing as well or is there another mixer doing that.

The loop are not directly affected by it but only mixed. I'm considering the Yeti for video sampler with midi to replace my Edirol P10... www.yetimidi.com/The mixer is this and has really nice feature for the price: www.thomann.de/fi/rgblink_mini.htmWith the eurorack setup. I have a Edirol V4 and a cv to midi module tuned especially for it.

But a more direct AE module video synth or samples player. A sampler with audio and video where you could choose the audio from the video, mute it or replace it... There all the time more and more 5v powered video stuff stand alone appearing so in a 4u module should be doable... But out of my abilities and free time (still need to practice to play listenable music😅).

I've recently been looking around to see what's available on the market for this topic, because the selection of software and hardware is very limited and often expensive. Now I've found a software combination that is available free of charge for most operating systems and works very well: modV and OBS. modV (modular audio visualisation) is a JavaScript-based software that can analyse and quantise incoming audio streams using different algorithms. These algorithms can parameterise so-called modules (shaders/filters) that can be applied to both audio and video material. These can also be triggered with MIDI. All of this can be recorded using screencast recording from OBS (Open Broadcasting Software), a simple live streaming software that either sends the material directly to the relevant platforms (Twitch/Youtube etc.) or stores it locally. I was really amazed at how well this all works without reaching the complexity of software like Processing or similar. Both softwares are beginner-compatible and can be used without any programming knowledge. Works perfectly under Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
Here is a small example (Cirrus, Karplus Strong 'light', some no-input-mixing for the kick-patch with Bastl Bestie):

love it ketap since your earlier post i've been having a look at some tutorials and will be very interesting to play around with. Especially if you can combine the Modv output with different videos through OBS. Would be so cool if there was video support within ModV too but that's just being greedy thanks for the suggestions

Hello and yes, it is some kind of limiting that you can only load one video at a time using the Texture2D module. It doesn't work in different groups either, I think only one instance of the module can be parameterized... .

Had lots of fun and some frustration with running ModV and OBS at the same time. the frustration was my computer freezing while recording with the MODV screen at full screen size. but I will try to work that out. while the OBS was not running Mod V is so much fun and reacts quite well.
I connected up a NanoKontrol2 via Midi to make changing some parameters easier which worked really well for turning modules on and off but I couldn't work out how to make the Midi learn the sliding parameters. will investigate that more.
At first the Midi learn didn't work until i pressed shift and Learn at the same time activating administer mode and from there the Midi learn worked fine. The procedure to Midi learn is 1) click the parameter of the module you want to use 2) click Midi Learn in the bottom section and then click the Button on the midi controller
With the computer freezing and me not pressing the midi controller in time I ended up doing 2 recordings. I couldn't make up my mind which I prefer so I just added both together in Shotcut to get this

Wow, that's cool, I absolutely love those harsh hypnotic repetitions and as always your sound! Graphic performance is an issue, I had some success with reducing the screen resolution settings (quite destructive...), but my humble attempts were less demanding in every sense... . Great video, thx for sharing!

Thanks ketap that's very cool of you Ah yes reducing the resolution makes sense, I will try this, different sizes of the main output screen too to see if there is an optimal size. I can see this software being quite immersive and could be as simple or as complicated as you wish
